This thread is worthless without pics!

Oops. Just saw the pic. I can see someone having an issue with going on a picnic in that little park.

I wonder if any open bidding laws were violated. $100 sure looks like a sweetheart deal.

It needs a bloody hippy corpse with a concentration-camp physique. Just like in church.

The problem with the government selling of public assets is that they are not the government's.

You elect officials to represent you in government. You give them the power to sell public property. Yes, they clearly can sell off assets.

As long as it's one own religion - how come nobody thinks of other people anymore? WWJD?

I'm beginning to see the wisdom of the sale. Not only because of the legal issues it avoids, but, since you mention it, it is rather inartistic, as well as it looks like it needs maintenance.

It is now someone else's problem.

So ... if a group of elected representatives got burrs in their saddles and decided to sell everything public, resulting in enormous costs for future taxpayers, then it would be OK? Seems to me that the selling of public property is the kind of thing that should be handled by referendum, for there are too many potential conflicts of interest in elected officials (particularly local ones).

I can only imagine the uproar if the city gave away the land for a gay monument.

I dunno, Wayne LaPierre choking the barrel of a shot gun could look kinda gay but I don't think they would mind.
