Presumably that Texas Tea I've heard so much about. I understand that after tasting it, you realize that Californey is the place you ought to be.

Just when I think it can't get more f***ed up, Texas turns around and surprises me. Just a few years ago, they were jailing gay people, now they want to put their friends in prison too? I'm sorry, this goes way too far. It's absolutely insane.

I hear that if you conspired in planning one you'll go to jail too. /hopefully sarcasm.

Worse, if you are talking about performing services, the Texas GOP seems to be advocating potentially jailing a religious officiant for performing a ceremony that, in his judgment, is compatible with his faith.

This is several fathoms into the deep crazy.

And this is the GOP platform! It's not some random small group of crazy right-wingers- it's the entire Republican Party of Texas. We were just talking about the crazy sodomy law Texas used to have, and now this.

The bible says that all sexual sins are equal. I hope that this platform expands justifully to all fornicators and people who look at porn.

Wait, what? I thought that was the Republican party (at least in Texas). Have you not read any Molly Ivins?

Texas is a very conservative state, let's face it.

It does seem there are a lot of US states competing for the most backwards state in the US, and dare I say it, the developed world (at least).

Let's see, jailing gay people, changing history books to suit a political philosophy...hmmm- what's next?

When did Texas jail people for being gay? I'm definitely not doubting you (this is Texas after all, that doesn't surprise me one bit), I'm just curious when and why this actually happened.

What can you say.. really. Just sad.

How about making it a crime to lobby for laws that discriminate?

I'm continually amazed that so many people don't know about this.

1998- and the law was not overturned until 2003.

A lot of states had laws on the books that allowed them to jail gays until that case struck them down.

But Texas was the only one enforcing it. And now look at what the GOP is trying to do, Rodimus. They want that law back, and worse.

Now I remember reading about that case. The Wiki article jogged my memory.

When it seems that every week, Texas does stupid **** like this, it's no longer a generalization.
