The 11-inch is back to its old 9.7- inch narrow size?

Apparently, the screen is a bit longer but has returned to its original narrow size pre 10.5-inch in both screen and body.

Take a look at the picture I’ve posted. I’m quite upset by this it’ll mean less information: less text, less image and less layers viewing when editing pictures. The only positive I can think of is that it’ll be comfortable to hold and type on again in portrait mode like the 9.7-inch was.. but I rather have a wider iPad.

And I’ve considered the the new 12.9-inch but it’s not an option because of costs and size. I always have my iPad 10.5 in my bed, because I have problems falling asleep and watching relaxing YouTube videos helps me. I used to own a 12.9-inch last year for a short time and it almost feel on my face daily. It’s also still very close to the old one in width so it will barely be any smaller in landscape. It also hurt my eyes, since I like to hold my iPad close to my face.

You don't have to buy it, you can keep your 10.5.

But it can’t be that narrow... the old 9.7 inch Pro had the same dimensions as the other non-pro iPads, right? I’ve got my 11 inch literally lying right on top of my Air 2 at the moment, and the screen is a good half inch wider on the 11.

Just an honest response. A lot of people come on here and complain, but this is one of the the worst ones I've heard and can't actually believe that you are quite upset about this. And the 11 inch is wider then the the 10.5.

Can you measure the display area with a ruler, ignoring the rounded corners? Curious about this. Makes me feel better about moving up to the 12.9" size if true.

It’s definitely wider than the 9.7. Is a few mm really going to make much of a difference? Certainly not something to be upset about and absolutely won’t detract from the experience in the scenarios you have mentioned.

    Display size:

    • iPad Pro 9.7" = 5.8" x 7.8"
    • iPad Pro 10.5" = 6.3" x 8.4"
    • iPad Pro 11" = 6.3" x 9.0"

The newest iPad Pro has a larger display in both dimensions.

I'm not sure why people need to Photoshop and squint using fuzzy images or play with a ruler when the exact display width and height can be determined by Apple provided specs.

So that means the aspect ratios are different for the 11’ Against the 10.5”? I didn’t realize that - but no big problem

Really, they are much narrower on the top and bottom. Maybe the sides are a tad thicker for design uniformity but overall they are much less than before.

The screen widths are the same between the 10.5 and 11. The 11 is taller. Use a ruler if you are not convinced.

    From 4 : 3 (10 : 7.5) , to 10 : 7
    So slightly better for movies.

The screen on the 11” is the exact same width as the 10.5”

You can see a side by side comparison of the specs on Apple.com.

I didn’t photoshop anything I found this from a video by a Youtuber, who had them side by side. I don’t know why it appeared like that in his video, unless he edited it to trick people into going with th e12.9, but I appreciate you for providing some information about the display size.

Apperently the Youtuber has been edited the video to make the 11 inch appear smaller. Thank you to those who comfirmed it wasn’t accurate! The thread can be closed now
