I’m surprised this isn’t brought up, especially since the iPad Pro line is the absolute best tablet on the market for media consumption, with accurate 24p playback without 2:3 pulldown.

Over 15% larger for 16:9 and 2.35:1 media? That’s awesome.

If I mostly used a tablet for video consumption, I’d rather have a Galaxy Tab S4, as it has an OLED screen. iPad has pretty low contrast for video. It artificially boosts contrast in full screen video content by clipping highlights.

It is interesting in this Comparison for the height of the Display in Landscape Mode it says 15.99 CMS for the 11" and a perfect 16 CMS for the 10.5" which means the 11" is small by just a whisker, I wonder if this makes any difference in watching Content since it is a thread smaller than the 10.5" ? I was somedays back desperately looking out for this information, and So Finally One day I took a measuring tape to the Apple Store and Manually Measured it and also Measured it with the Measure APP in iOS 12 and it came out to be 16 CMS on both device, so it was just wrong by a thread on the 11" well !

It's the width (in landscape mode) that matters.

Maybe, but looking at the 10.5" and the 11" in comparison, the 11" in height in Landscape mode looks shorter giving an impression to the viewer that it shows less content than in the 10.5"

That teeny area would be black during any media.

I’ll take smooth 24p playback over OLED. Any day of the week. I recognize the LCD drawbacks bigtime, but 24p is glorious.

All i can say is that coming from an ipad mini and 9.7” ipad...the difference in screen size for media consumption is amaaazing. So much more immersive on the 11” with the thinner bezels and wider aspect ration. Really diggin it.

The 11” iPad Pro is a much nicer, more modern version of the 10.5 that I've ... I knew that the bigger screen would be great, but I was a bit hesitant because ... The new Keyboard Folio is nicer than the previous Smart Keyboard ... few iOS-specific modifier keys (Home & Siri) and bring back the “media mode.

I would not call 1800: a low contrast rateo, also Oled is not perfect, I have an LG C8, and it crash dark scenese quite a bit, still very nice when gaming or watching movies in a completely dark room but still fram from perfect.

Yep, I have a C7, and the ultimate black level on/off is unrivaled. Near black, though? Questionable at times.

I’ve not noticed any artificial boosting of contrast like on the previous gen iPad Pros where it used to drive me crazy. So far, I love the thing. The speed is nuts, noticeably faster than last year's model for even just basic web browsing.

That’s a tough one, honestly. I’ve had the 12.9” the last two times. While I really liked it (bar the artificial contrast nonsense) for movies, I found that the size put me off grabbing it more than I thought it would.

The 11”, especially with the new aspect ratio, has solved that issue as I don’t find the size to be an inhibitor anymore. There’s no question the wider screen makes more sense for movies etc.

But that sounds quite contrary to what the situation is, a 12.9" Size with a Bigger Display is always going to be much more enjoyable to watch Movies isn't it ? The More Screen Estate the more fun it is ! So how is 11" more likeable to you ? is this some personal preference or something ?

If you re-read my post, it will make sense. Of course it’s personal preference. You can’t go wrong with either size, - I just find myself actually using the 11” Pro. With the 12.9” it would just sit there more because it was awkward to lug around or hold in one hand etc.

It’s definitely not ideal, but should be resolved at some point obviously. No hurt in waiting it out, you’ll likely save a few bucks by buying later anyway.

If you use a lot of games, then yeah, it will be a problem. App-wise, many apps use auto-width, so even though they might not be updated you won’t get large black bars, just the skinny header and footer where the device curves. Almost all the major video apps have either updated or gone auto-width as well.

The 11” is a unique aspect ratio among all prior iPads. A LOT of apps have weird issues with it. If you use a large number of apps — and maybe your app developers (like financial companies) are slow updaters — I recommend waiting.

That said, the new aspect is slightly better for video. Having returned the 11” and bought a 10.5” I can say I barely notice the difference.

In march all apps that don’t complain with all ipad rateo will be taken down, so even for the lazy ones won’t be more than 3 months.
