The league layith the smack down on Mike Tomlin. 100k fine and possible draft picks.

Goodell spinning the old "wheel-of-discipline" again.

Seriously that guy is the worst commissioner in pro sports, and when you're competing against Bettman, Selig, and Stern, that's really saying something.

I don't have a problem with this fine. He was in the white, the officials should have thrown the flag. He disrupted the play, he should know better.

Buh-bye Gary. The only surprising thing about this is that they didn't wait until the end of the season.

ESPN.com said:
The Houston Texans, who own the league's worst record at 2-11, fired coach Gary Kubiak on Friday.

Expected by some to contend for a Super Bowl berth this season, the Texans rallied to win their first two games but have lost a franchise-record 11 straight since.

Owner Bob McNair said defensive coordinator Wade Phillips will serve as interim coach.

"This has been a very disappointing year," McNair said. "We started with such high hopes. To have this string of losses is unacceptable.

"We normally would wait until the end of year to evaluate our staff; under these extreme circumstances thought best to start the process now."

I agree. At this point, they should have let him finish out the season. Now they'll go and win 2 or 3 under Philips, blow the first pick and make personnel decisions based on the temporary bump in performance a coaching change usually has on a team.

I'm shocked also. I never thought McNair would do it in the middle of the season. I'm not as confident in Phillips as you are, though. Their defense - bad penalties, bad pass rush, inability to create turnovers - has been as much of a problem as their offense.

Kubiak sealed his fate by bringing in Schaub last night. The city doesn't seem to mind Keenum losing, but when Schaub does, they lose their minds.

I don't get why they fired Kubiak. Sure this season has been bad, but didn't he turn around the franchise and make the playoffs 2 years in a row?

Frankly, it's been atrocious. He should have been fired 2 years ago, but instead McNair gave him an extension. Then, hiring of Wade Phillips made their defense elite in 2011, which helped propel them towards the playoffs. They've basically stunk since the 2nd half of last season.

His offensive play calling is a joke - it's too simple and extremely transparent. It's become a game for season ticket holders in my section to call out the plays before they are run. And if we can guess what they're doing, a D Coordinator can too.

Add to that the extreme lack of discipline - bad penalties all year which all seem to come at the most inopportune times - and it was just time to make a change.

He never had a chance to take that team any further than he already had. And what's the point of taking a QB with the #1 pick when he would have no clue what to do with him, or how to best take advantage of his assets.

And, they've really been bit by the injury bug this season as well. I can understand wanting to make a move, but to do so before the end of the season seems rash.

This is what drove me crazy. That offense has/had so many weapons for this simple play calling.

This I don't quite follow. I fully expect the Texans to take Bridgewater unless they hire Lovie Smith.

Patriots season is probably over.

Gronk just took a helmet straight into the knee. Went off on a cart. Probably blown out and done for the year.

There's only so many injuries you can withstand and still be competitive.

Man I hope not. Even if Seattle loses today I can see them playing Denver in Jersey and Denver would have the edge snow-wise.

No way.

Manning is TERRIBLE in the cold and even worse in the snow.

Denver's worst nightmare is an outdoor Superbowl in the cold and snow.

Pulling for a NE loss here. I'm just salivating at the thought of the Bengals with the 2 seed. At least we won't lose in the 1st round that way. :D

Patriots recover the onside kick. I really can't stand them. Someday they will be bad again, and I will be thrilled.

Cleveland was completely jacked. Fix is in.
