hahaha, that pass interference call in the end zone was awful.

That said, Patriots got screwed out of a win a few weeks ago against Carolina. Nice to see the NFL's brutal officiating even that out.

Patriots recover the onside kick. I really can't stand them. Someday they will be bad again, and I will be thrilled.

Patriots were terrible for the first 40 years of the franchise. We were due for a good decade. :p

That said, that was an extremely costly victory. Never been this disappointed on a day the Patriots clinch the division. Not looking good for the Patriots in the playoffs with three of our four best players on IR. :(

Don't forget the chicken .... call the refs gave the Jets on the last play with the pushing your own man penalty. Cost the Patriots that game a few weeks back. So you get a few calls you lose a few calls.

I go back to the 60s, 70s... the Patriots always got the bad luck call. It wasn't until Brady took over as QB that those kind of stupid errors got reduced.

If Gronk makes or brakes a season for the Patriots they need some serious team changes.

I think it speaks more to how big of a game changer he is when healthy.

Him and Megatron are the two most valuable non-QB offensive players in the league.

And it's not just Gronk. Our two best defensive players & defensive captains (Mayo and Wilfork) are on IR too.

You lose 3 of your 4 best players, and your 5th best player (Talib) misses a bunch of games too, not many teams are going to be very successful.

Patriots season is probably over.

Gronk just took a helmet straight into the knee. Went off on a cart. Probably blown out and done for the year.

There's only so many injuries you can withstand and still be competitive.

That was a bad one but I wouldn't put him out for season just yet until we hear more.

You guys have a good enough record to secure your postseason in a good position and as long as Brady is there (look at him of late in 4th quarter) you have a chance to go all the way and you are #2 seed with chance at #1 seed. My team of beloved Niners beat the best in division in the mighty Seattle but I am still not convinced we are where we were last year and are still at 6th seed in playoff picture.

But back to NE game. ABC news radio said originally Gronk's may be a tear but now said to be a minor (if there is such a thing) hairline fracture but he could conceivably play but it's too early to tell. Neither are ideal but it's too early to say he's completely out or that NE's season is doomed. Anyway, until this, below, is done maybe on monday, we don't know (from medical site):

Knee imaging

Plain X-rays of the knee may be done looking for broken bones. Other injuries that may mimic a torn ACL include breakage in the end of the thighbone (such as a tibial plateau fracture or a tibial spine fracture). In patients with an ACL tear, the X-rays are usually normal. Magnetic resonance imaging or MRI has become the test of choice to image the knee looking for ligament injury. In addition to defining the injury, it can help the orthopedic surgeon help decide the best treatment options.

We had the same type of thing happen to our (Niners) Frank Gore and his broken bone only put him out one week, and sparingly used the next week. He bounced back but that was a scary one indeed. We had Ronnie Lott play with a major break not knowing it and that year we won the Super Bowl. The NFL has not only a reputation for having its players hide concussions or downplay them, but to all types of injuries including breaks and serious tears. That being said I don't think Lott that season was as major a factor for us as Gronk can be for you guys. In this sport, it's not over until its over and plenty of backups have stepped up in postseason and some have even made their names there.

P. Manning looks tough and back into top form and Brees and NO may hold up against Carolina. That's a good game. Baltimore is still in it and earlier I thought this was going to be just another season where a SB winner stinks up the place the following year. Sometimes favorites don't come out until the last week but Seattle, NE, Denver, and NO still seem to be the best shots for Lombardi.

This is true but as much as I hate the Patriots I have to admit you can never count them out as long as Brady and Belichick are there. I mean you've had injuries left and right all year and yet a 10-3 record. Gotta give credit where it's due

Loved watching the game between between Philly and Detroit!!!!

he he he... yeah. i hate both but glad philly won.

MINN vs BAL was a good one. I hate BAL too tho...

CLE vs NE was a good one. Poor CLE... they are pitiful. Jason Campbell still playing fairly well ...

No they're not. They all but beat the Patriots. They were a bad homer call away from taking down Brady and company.

The Texans are pitiful. Which boggles me because they should be far better than they are.

tell me about it Packers

I feel your pain. It's been a brutal year for injuries for lots of teams but the Packers have really been hit hard.

Who's the company? Seems like a third of the guys on the team now wouldn't even be starters for Umass. haha.

Confirmed by the MRI this morning.. Gronk tore his ACL and damaged his MCL. :(

The worst thing about all of the Texans losses is that they have all been close games - one possession games.

A few reasons, IMO, for the Texans tank job: too many turnovers on offense, not enough turnovers on defense (I don't know what the differential is, but it has to be close to the worst in the league) and bad, bad defensive penalties at the worst possible times. They have had SO many penalties (and many of them the 15 yard personal foul variety) on 3rd down after they have stopped the offense - they're just handing the ball back because of stupidity. It's not counted as a turnover, but it has the same effect.

And of course, as I've said a million times, Gary Kubiak was just an awful offensive play caller. His play calls, especially on 1st down and in short yardage situations, have always been head scratchers. I'm interested to see if they are going to at least try to mix things up now that the OC is actually going to act like an OC.

From the few Texans games I saw this year, it was like Sparano redux.

Honestly, though, if you're going to tank the season, this is the best way to do it. They are in striking distance almost every game. Any regression towards the mean gets the Texans 6 games at least. Combine that with a drafted quarterback and who knows what could happen. By no means do I feel this season is damming.

MNF...and this is what happens when the Raiders get close to getting it together and you beat them! I was kind of hating Dallas again for a couple of weeks like the old days and I wanted to see somebody, anybody, shellac them.

Take that Dallas. :)
