Just thought I would start a thread to keep a record of all the idiotic things AOC says.

Today's entry is her accusing the Republicans of passing the 22nd Amendment to keep FDR from being reelected. Well, just lets look at what she said and then the facts.

    She said:

    https://twitchy.com/samj-3930/2019/...-22nd-amendment-is-the-stuff-of-legend-watch/

Watch the video as it is short. So these are her actual words and she says the [GOP] had to amend the Constitution to make sure Roosevelt didn't get elected again. Those dastardly Republicans, I can't believe they did that.

Oh, wait. Aside from the fact it wasn't passed until 2 years AFTER Roosevelt died, there is this pesky little phrase in the amendment:

So as evil as those Republicans may have been, this Amendment would not have applied to Roosevelt as he was President when it was proposed in 1944.

While she does have a problem with hyperbole when speaking she's certainly not the reigning champ in D.C.

But I'm glad the conservatives are at least holding this first time representative under such scrutiny (and at least for verifiable facts!); but as to why the right focuses on this woman? Big ideas, big changes, daring to dream of a great America without putting the current state down? I wish we could get to the bottom of that.

<edited>got my houses in order :)

Hyperbole, yes. 22nd amendment was born because FDR was president so long.

That is quite possible. But it would have not applied to him, so her saying the Republicans passed to get rid of him is flat out wrong.

I quite agree. The hyperbole is unhelpful.

    Also,
    https://www.theguardian.com/comment...xandria-ocasio-cortez-future-democratic-party

    https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/...ic-win-and-the-future-of-the-democratic-party

    Among others.

    But most especially,
DNC chair: Ocasio-Cortez represents the 'future of our party'
    https://thehill.com/blogs/blog-brie...sio-cortez-represents-the-future-of-our-party

If as the DNC chair says this lady is the future of the DNC, it is only a logical consequence that the GOP scrutinizes her as the DNC policies of the future will be vastly conditioned by her philosophy.

Can I just say THANK YOU for starting a new thread on this topic? The dozens of others you all have started on the exact same topic just weren't doing it for me.

Thank you, I guess. Not really sure what you mean. I probably haven't started a dozen threads in the past year, but OK.

Cow farts, cow farts and airplanes. We need to rethink the grain we give cows to knock off the flatulence. The sake of NY staying above water level depends on it. Although NY turning into Venice Italy doesn't sound that bad. People can line up in boats for NYE.

Hey another Right Wing hatchet job in the making, from citizens who applaud government service only when it’s their own party serving... them. Everyone else gets character assassinated.:oops:

Case in point the first post which speaks of AOC as being stupid or an idiot referencing the 22 amendment and Roosevelt.

How about this instead, so after being on the receiving end of a Roosevelt, you don't think the GOP would ever pass a bill like this to prevent such a thing in the furture, and of course fans of this thread attribute it to her stupidity. He died in office in 45, they passed it in 47. I think she misspoke, but this was the intent of what she was saying.

The real reason for a thread like this is to identify the threat, threat to the GOP, especially as a future candidate for President and get out your Hillary Hatchets! They are dieing for some Hillary Deja Vu.

Are cows the cause of global warming?
A cow does on overage release between 70 and 120 kg of Methane per year. Methane is a greenhouse gas like carbon dioxide (CO2). But the negative effect on the climate of Methane is 23 times higher than the effect of CO2. Therefore the release of about 100 kg Methane per year for each cow is equivalent to about 2'300 kg CO2 per year.
Let's compare this value of 2'300 kg CO2: The same amount of carbon dioxide (CO2) is generated by burning 1'000 liters of petrol. With a car using 8 liters of petrol per 100 km, you could drive 12'500 km per year (7'800 miles per year).

World-wide, there are about 1.5 billion cows and bulls. All ruminants (animals which regurgitates food and re-chews it) on the world emit about two billion metric tons of CO2-equivalents per year. In addition, clearing of tropical forests and rain forests to get more grazing land and farm land is responsible for an extra 2.8 billion metric tons of CO2 emission per year!

According to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) agriculture is responsible for 18% of the total release of greenhouse gases world-wide (this is more than the whole transportation sector). Cattle-breeding is taking a major factor for these greenhouse gas emissions according to FAO. Says Henning Steinfeld, Chief of FAO's Livestock Information and Policy Branch and senior author of the report: "Livestock are one of the most significant contributors to today's most serious environmental problems. Urgent action is required to remedy the situation."

Question: Do people actually think Presidents should serve indefinitely? In an indirect way that’s kind of what I hear being supported by AOC.

Ok, I will accept she misspoke, but then the minute someone points it out, she deflects away from it and makes some lame accusation instead of simply saying "I'm sorry, I misspoke!"

Also, while the GOP may have been behind that push, it also kept Reagan from having a 3rd or 4th term.
