Warning: If you're a Democrat, Liberal, Leftist, Socialist, or Progressive the following may trigger a panic attack. You have been warned.

Despite these trends, many popular narratives about the 2016 election seem to reinforce the concept of an emerging Democratic majority.

For instance, there is a common misconception that Trump was ushered into power by old, white, economically disenfranchised men. However, according to the exit polls, Trump actually did worse than Romney among whites and seniors, but outperformed him among blacks, Asians, Hispanics and young people.

While the Democrats lost a lot of support among low-income Americans, I think it would be a mistake to interpret these as Trump’s base. He won a plurality of every income bracket above US$50,000 as well. He also won more non-Christian and nonreligious voters than any Republican since the 2000 election.

However the biggest surprise of 2016 probably relates to gender. The first major party female candidate for president, running against a notorious misogynist, captured the Democrats’ lowest share of female voters since 2004. And although Trump also got a lower share of female voters than his last three Republican predecessors, he nonetheless won over a majority of white women.

Granted, Trump’s candidacy and campaign were exceptional. However, it would be a mistake to think of these outcomes as aberrations rather than the culmination of a long-running trend. Contrary to the emerging Democratic majority thesis, there does not seem to be any demographic category with which Democrats are progressively improving.
Read the whole thing for the stats and details. It's worth it.

She won't. The Dems need some serious help with their party, as do the Republicans. Enough of this religious nonsense and tea party influence. Rubio, Cruz, Trump, et al need to get out of politics. McCain would have been a decent POTUS if it weren't for the trollop at his side and the tea party forcing him to say the BS they'd come up with. Now, like a frightened dog, he stands with his tail between his legs. Talks the big talk, does **** all.

You just hate him because of his anti-Mexican attitude from the time and wanting to team up with Arpaio to rid AZ of illegals.

As bad as he is, he's not a real Republican by any stretch of the imagination. None of them are. Be more afraid of a Pence presidency. He's more competent and means more harm.

Expanded domestic espionage laws and attacked sovereign countries. Your point? I seldom think you like any politician. You just enjoy being boisterous for the sake of being boisterous. Like a mariachi band at a street even. Trumpets wailing and drowning out the sound of actual music playing through large speakers. Your life is essentially a telenovela.

Because he can't prosecute the case and can't seem to do much of anything else. He's good at meetings, and good at flying down to Maralago. And of course embarrassing the United States (He's the greatest at that! The best! Big league!)

That's about it so far. It will be interesting to see if he really does make America great again. If he doesn't I am sure you and other Trump supporters will have some excuse for why he fell short.

I told you two years ago that Trump will be president.
    Everyone laughed at me.

I am telling you now that the democrats will nominate Hildabeast again.
And of course she will lose again.
    Watch!

Hopefully they get the hint. Putting up a solid candidate who is about more than social programs is good for the country. And to be fair, republicans threw 16 other candidates at the wall to get rid of Trump. None stuck.

All this gloom and doom talk about the Democratic party is overlooking the simple fact that it garnered about 3 million more votes than the GOP in the presidential election.

Also, once people realize that Trump's talk about returning jobs and industry to the U.S. was just campaign bluster (his own clothing line is manufactured outside the U.S.) and they see how his cabinet of billionaires and CEO's will hurt the middle class, the Dems should be in a good position.

I honestly don't know how some people believe anything that comes out of that man's mouth. Perhaps because expectations were so low to begin with that they give him a pass. He campaigned to be for the working middle class, then turns around and fills his cabinet with billionaire 1%'ers. Trump is a Salesman, and a good one at that. The promise of bringing back jobs is based on trickle down which doesn't work when the only ones getting fat pockets will be those at the top.

I think the presidential election is not the real canary. It's the make up of congress and the governors in the states. The states that lean right outnumber the states that lean left by 6 (20-14). The other 16 can go either way. Republican governors in outnumber democrat governors by almost 2-1.

Put a different way, even if a democrat gets elected as president, he (woman will never be prez of the U.S. unless she is a Republican) will be battling against a republican congress and will not be able to accomplish anything.

Having the majority vote counts for nothing given the way states are leaning politically.

This is not about believing Trump. This is about people being so fed up that they cut their own noses off to spite their faces.

Correct, which is why our Senate has had the low approval ratings for damn near a decade.

Perhaps, or you can blame it on partisanship. Replace Trump with a suited Chimp and people would have voted for the Chimp as long as it wasn't Hillary the she-devil.
