It took me a while to figure out that the new calls app interface doesn’t show you ALL categories of Dialed, Missed, Spam together. You have to manually select which category you want to view and you can select only 1 category at a time. Good lord I cannot describe how annoying and foolish this design is. I don’t know if this is a bug or “by design” as I missed several calls and that entry just did not appear. I had to manually select Missed call filter for them to show up. If you switch to classic behaviour of seeing all categories together, Apple punches you in your guts by not giving search option for contacts. But I have a feeling that this would be addressed in iOS 30 or 31. Yay for beta I guess.

I hadn’t looked at the phone before now, but yes, it is confusing. I think the Unified view needs an extra option for “All” so you can scroll one list of Calls/Missed/Voicemails/Unknown Callers/Spam, all in chronological order.

One other thing I see is that if you stay in classic view there’s two filter controls right beside each other at the top to do the same thing. The existing “All/Missed” slider and a new, “three-horizontal-lines” filter button which opens up to three options (Calls/Missed/Spam) and a further “Manage Filtering” button that will filter out unknown callers silently (which sounds kind-of harsh and maybe not a good idea?). The simplicity is gone.

Things like described above has changed me from an enthusiastic (not Fanboy) Apple user to someone who really starts to hate Apple. I´ve seen many examples of this ******** over the last two years in every OS. (Watch, ios, MacOS). It´s like they want to make your life more complicated with every year.

Have you filed feedback on this?

I’m having a different experience to you. In the new unified view when I have “Calls” selected I see all incoming/outgoing/missed calls and voicemail, including standard phone calls, FaceTime and calls made via third party apps like WhatsApp. Beta 3 on 14PM.
