...What the heck, might as well get started on the sister thread now.

I did not know until today that the Democrats are going to have a 3-day convention as well...the difference being, the Dems planned it that way.

Other interesting note: the first two days will be held in the typical indoor stadium. The final day will be outdoors (weather permitting) at Bank of America Stadium. (Hold the remarks. :D )

The indoor venue (Time Warner Cable Arena) looks impressive. My personal partiality aside, I just think the place is more impressive looking than the RNC site.

So far, the Bold are the only things that bother me. Unfortunately nowadays, it is near impossible to find a venue that isn't funded or sponsored by some corporation.

My friend gave his son the middle name Shea because he loves the mets. Those days are almost over. Michael Bank of America Stadium Smith. Doesn't work as well.

The DNC speeches will be much better than the dry speeches from the RNC.

What ever happened to the old fashioned "convention center" ?

Absolutely! Because she doesn't have the same beliefs as you, she is automatically a liar, and a dry speaker?

I believe it's more along the lines that she was in integral part of the Bush Administration that sold us lies about Saddam Hussein and led us into an unnecessary war with Iraq.

Unless, of course, you believe the Bush Administration was simply misled by bad intelligence.

    Roll ... my ... eyes.

I expect something better than the divorced-from-reality stuff we heard at the GOP shindig. I swear, they were living such a fantasy that they should've moved the thing from Tampa to Disneyworld in Orlando.

    Politically and grammatically incorrect.

Am I not allowed to believe that it was Bush who led is into an unnecessary [two] war? Should I blame Hillary for the [unnecessary] armed conflict in Libya and all of the [unauthorized] drone strikes throughout the world?

The RNC scared me a little. All the wives looked like they came straight out the movie "The Stepford Wives". At least the women who will speak at the DNC will have individual character.

I do like the arena better, but I prefer the way the video walls were arranged in Tampa then here. The DNC stage looks like a bunch of screens thrown together. The RNC looked like a nice bunch of picture frames with a 3D offset and was much more artistic looking. That being said, what (and who) is in FRONT of the screens is much more important.

Well something in that convention had to have some depth to it.

False. Given the shortage of money, they shortened the convention from four to three days back in January 2012.

Don't worry, given I live 20 miles from Charlotte, I'll be taking the time to fact check and correct a lot of the information dumped here over the next few days.

Those links show that the Democratic planning committee is dealing with less money because it is not accepting corporate contributions over $100,000. Given the fact that they have more limited funds, they revised their plans to run a convention that uses the money it does have more frugally and responsibly.

Unlike the Republicans, who planned on having a potential hurricane come through town on their first day.

    Thanks for the fact check!

The DNC arrived in Charlotte in February of 2011 to begin preparations. Eleven months later they announced a shorten convention schedule, nine months out from the start of the convention.

Now, I suck at math, but if my math is correct, over half way through they had to shorten the convention schedule.

Do I wish they were still having that extra day? Of course. Charlotte and the surrounding area could use the economic impact.
