All right, I confess...I happen to be an editorial cartoon junkie. Sometimes they crack me up, sometimes they condense a larger truth into a single picture...and often (when they're at their best) they do both at the same time.

Ordinarily such cartoons reach their peak during presidential campaign seasons, but this economic crisis has a way of bringing out the very best gallows humor in cartoonists. So for your amusement, in case you haven't seen them already, I present a small collection of cartoons culled from Slate.

Feel free to submit your own finds.

Jobs which create wealth--personal or national--are created by private sector investments and profits on those investments. Nowhere else. Whatever reduces available investment capital or profits on investment capital limits the creation of jobs. Lower taxes, create jobs. Raise taxes, reduce jobs. Historical fact.

Really? Cuz I'll take taxes during the Clinton years vs lower taxes during the Bush years.

But no, lower taxes are the solution

Some of those are hilarious, such as the one where they're saying they brought terror and destruction to wall street and the reply was "you get a bonus for that."

    Classic.

I used to subscribe to the daily Slate political cartoons for just this reason. It's actually sort of depressing that these people have so much material to work with these days.

The Osama one might be a little in bad taste, but it's also right on and very clever.

The pink slip one is funny, but sadly very accurate: on the news a while back they did a story on one small business that's absolutely booming right now. Their business: making signs. "Foreclosed" has been very popular lately. :/

The one where bin laden is being asked if he gets a bonus for attacking New York is hilarious.
