I ordered a Refurbished 15.4-inch MacBook Pro 2.2GHz, but when I booted it up I was pleased to see that what I got was a 2.8 GHz instead. Does this happen often?

After checking the Canadian refurb store nearly daily for the last month, I thought that nTB 16/512 never made it to the refurbished store. I almost ordered a TB model until this popped up the other day, now on it's way in the mail!

I purchased a MBP 15.4 SG/2.9GHZ/RP 560/512GB about a week ago mostly for FCPX and travel.

Do they ever discount more than 15% on 2017 MacBook Pro 13s? Seems refurbished and new go for about the same price on sale. Which would you pick? One that is new or one that is used and had a component replaced highly unlikely to die again

Question, on a 265gb MacBook Pro 13, how much does the OS take up? On a new mbp how many gb should one have left? Debating between 16gb ram or 512gb. Prob grabbing 16/256 though.

Well I just ordered myself a 13" non-touchbar MBP with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD.

I'm switching over from an age-old Core 2 Duo 13" MBP from 2010 which has served me surprisingly well (even runs High Sierra) since it was still possible to add RAM and switch the HDD out for an SSD, but it's still getting more and more frustrating trying to do pretty much anything more demanding than surf the web on it.

At the moment the order is estimated to take around two weeks :(

I've gone back and forth between which model to keep. I've tried the 13" TB and nonTB as well as the 15". At the moment I've got the 2016 15" which I think I'm going to keep. It's impossible to decide. :(

Just ordered a refurb 2017 13" TB 16/512. There are a whole lot more 2017s in the refurb store now than 2 weeks ago, and at better prices. I'm returning a nTB with same specs that I ordered new on Black Friday. The nTB fan spins up constantly while watching video and when running Windows in Parallels. I like the physical Fn keys better than the touch bar, but I can't stand the fan noise. The TB supposedly has better cooling in addition to a better video card and wifi.

I'm moving from a late 2013 to a 2017 model. Here are my thoughts so far:
Ports: Using about $70 of adapters, I was able to hook up two external monitors, 4 USB devices, and power, all through one USB-C port, which is awesome. When I get to my desk I just plug in one cord and everything is connected. I do miss MagSafe when not at my desk, but I found a $10 magnetic adapter that plugs into my travel charger so not a hard fix.

Keyboard: Not as bad as I feared, but not as good as the previous generation. The key travel is really small and it's louder. I'm not really bothered by the noise though as I do most of my typing using a Unicomp Model-M, which is about as loud as keyboards get.

Speakers: Definitely improved over the previous generation.

    Trackpad:
My first apple laptop over 20 years ago was the "blackbird" 520, which had the industry's first trackpad. I enabled tap-to-click on that one, and I'm surprised it wasn't turned on default on the new ones. Force touch feels kind of strange, but it's nice that you can click on the edges of the trackpad now and still have it register.

Welp - I'm already returning the below, as the base 2017 model with 16gig ram just hit the refurb store for just a tad more than what I paid for a new 8gig on Black Friday.

Feels weird returning a new model for a refurbished one, but it seems everyone has nothing but good things to say.

And just like that, its off of the refurb site. I must have gotten one of the last ones.

    Late 2016 Space Gray 15.4" MBP / 2.9 GHz / 16GB / 1TB SSD / RP 460 GPU / Touch Bar

Got it for $2500 Cyber Monday deal. This is going to pack a punch.

    I got a 2017 15” MBP TB 2.9Ghz/16GB/512GB/Radeon 560 for $2500 the laptop only.

Bought a bunch of goodies to go with it: Apple Care+, 500GB Samsung T5, CharJen Pro Hub (Supports UHS-II, Thunderbolt 3 etc), Tomtoc 15” Grey Case.

I was debating wherever to spend extra $150 for the 3.1Ghz/16GB/512GB/Radeon 560 at $2650, but thought i would be happier with the goodies and the extras (ex getting the T5). $3000 spending was just enough on the laptop so i left it as it is.

I got it from B&H at $350 price matched from adorama's price. I added it at the same time i ordered my laptop so it's already registered.

For those who have the Touch Bar (13 inch) how is the battery life on it, I appreciate this is dependant on usage. I'm not a power user I don't have to do any video editing or anything but I'm not really sure between the TB and the nTB models. I want something that will last most of the day if I take it out with me, I don't want to be carrying the charger if I can avoid it.

Ordered a refurbished 2016 15” Tb/mbp 16gig 256ssd was soooo excited to get it Friday but snow stopped it from arriving so now I’m anxiously waiting for tomorrow hoping nothing goes wrong. I’ve never purchased anything refurbished from Apple but apparently they have a pretty good track record so I’m not too worried.

I returned the nTB because the fan kicked on and made a loud whining sound every time I watched a hi-res video. I didn't really want the touch bar, but the TB version has better cooling and doesn't have the fan issue. I haven't found the battery life to be that different between the two, though in theory the nTB should last a little longer. A 2015 model should have the longest battery life of any Mac laptop. Make sure to use Safari instead of Chrome if you are trying to stretch the battery.

Ordered and received a 2016 15" 2.9GHz/16GB/1TB/460 despite all the keyboard failure threads. The keyboard is actually nice, I got used to it within a day and like the firm feel and larger keys. Seems like they've improved quality control on the new MBP vs the late 2013 15" that I'm upgrading from. I went through 4 units to find defect-free one. But this one looks good, no yellow or pink tint, peeling screen rubber trim, or popping chassis.

Is it normal for Apple to manufacture previous year's model in current cycle? Online and coconut battery says this unit was made in Sep-Oct 2017, I figured they stopped making 2016's in April-May of 2017. Not complaining, just find that made date suspicious.

    2017 13" TB 256GB/8GB/3.1GHz

one question: how come on the info it says 2017 model and not something like "mid 2017" or "late 2017"?

Just ordered a refurb 2016 15" base model - 2.6/16/256/450 arriving on Saturday. Can't wait! Decided to save a few hundred over the 2017 and put the money towards a pair of noise-cancelling wireless headphones instead.

Sold my 12" 2015 Macbook Gray 1.2 Gray 512 SSD for a Refurb 13" MBP 3.5 1TB 16gb TB, needed more umph as I had the 12" since it debuted, should be arriving tomorrow.

I wanted the physical Function keys, but reading all the fan noise posts made me jump on the TB band wagon

an accident fried my 2015 MBP retina. While it is being sent for evaluation for repair, bought a 2017 13” nTB pro 256. It’s pretty nice! But I am disappointed that my old computer died so soon because I was hoping to keep it for 6 years and was looking forward to maybe getting a 15” next time. Ah well.

Currently using a 2011 13" Macbook pro (which I've upgraded to 8GB RAM/240GB SSD ages ago). In all fairness it still runs very well for my general use (mostly office/internet/music). I've just ordered a refurbed 2017 nMBP 13" with 16GB ram/256 SSD. I've recently started my venture into photography with my first DSLR, so I would like to also start editing 24megapixel raw's, will see how this setup works with Pixelmator Pro, I do have a 24" Dell IPS I can plug-in for more screen estate, if all fails I'll spend more and go 15" :)
