The iPod "iPod" Could not be restored. An Unkown Error Occured (-50)

WHAT IS THIS? I can't seem to restore it what do I do?

You put it in emergency restore mode, yes?

I got the same the first time I tried, hit restore, downloaded the software, extracted package contents and then a friggin error message. I just tried again this morning though and it all worked perfectly fine.

yeah and then when in iTunes it says "Recovery mode, restore" or something along those lines I hit restore and it gives me the error. I dont know what to do

the same happened to me
