So is this supposed to be breaking news that politics is all about money?

The role of money in politics is widely known, but, details matter.

They are proud to be part of it. They just don't particularly want people to know who they are.

In political activism, as in all things, size matters. The GOP pander to the rich, and the rich pander to them. I find it odd that so many working- and middle-class people in the US can't see that, but then again a quarter of a billion dollars can generate a very large smoke screen. IMO.

There are plenty of rich and powerful on the other side. Just look at the Hollywood elite.

Does it matter how big the check is, the fact is these people are bought and sold every day. Why is it ok if it's only 1 million but horrible if it's 63. There should be no money in politics period.

There has to be a limit somewhere so people who want the freedom to support their politicians but people can't out and out buy elections.

$500 seems like a good cap. There are plenty of other more worthy places to donate money.

Do you pronounce Koch as 'cock'?...I'm never sure but always in public especially if 'little ones' are around I pronounce it "coch" with a soft ch.

No, it has a long "o" in the middle. Sometimes sounds like we are talking about some expensive white powder.

Good idea. You should suggest that to the Republican-controlled Supreme Court.

Funny thing is, back in the 50's, 60's, and 70's, people thought of the Supreme Court as being very nonpartisan. (Well, except people who never accepted the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments.)

In the year 2000, for the first time in my lifetime, the Court was openly partisan, and it still is.

The bazillionaire family pronounces it as "coke". Former mayor of NYC, Ed Koch, pronounces it as "kotch".

    Meanwhile, in Germany...

Entire books have been devoted to this question. The short answer is that there are two main branches to the party. The business branch promises to support the causes of the social reform branch. The social reform branch works with religious fervor to elect representatives who ultimately care more about business interests. Case in point:

These guys were supposed to overturn roe v wade.

And give up their favorite wedge issue/the best way to get social conservatives to the polls? It'll never happen.
