Well, judging from the popularity of the "What didja get for Christmas?" thread, I thought I might as well put this one up.

I got my mom a CD of a local men's a capella group that she really enjoys. I bought my dad an Oregon State University pint glass, and my sister an OSU bandanna. My sister and I gave my dad's mom a framed photo of us in front of the Christmas tree.

Mother: Perfume.
Stepfather: Arcane book on anatomy, dissections, wax models (as a diversion, he's a PC 'nerd').
Brother: Super Monkey Ball and an extra controller for his Gamecube. Damn I love Monkey Fight.
Girlfriend: Lots of psychotic s**t. Cat in a basket, uh, St. John's Wort, an Aluminium oil canister, some dried bananas  edit: Pink feather boa, Diddl the mouse wallet... think that's about it.)

For everyone else it was prescription. They asked, they got. Meh.

I was also fairly low in money, so I only got stuff for my immediate family. Got my mom a "citrus juicer"- you know, juices oranges, lemons, grapefruit, etc. So that's where most of my money went, then I got my dad the three Bourne books (Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremecy, and Bourne Ultimatum), and for my sister I got her one of thse scented "eye pillows", and a variety of yummy smelling soaps.

I gave my wife my old 30GB iPod (she had basically claimed it for herself anyway,) and bought her the JVC SoundStage speakers. I also gave her a Nintendo DS plus Mario and Spider-Man.

I gave my dad a new digital camera. (He dropped and broke his about a month ago, and just heard back from the manufacturer that they want to charge him more to fix it than an equivalent costs new now.)

I gave my grandmother a DVD player, and a two-month subscription to NetFlix.

I gave my mom, sister, and aunt some artsy things.

I was hoping for an iPod photo for Christmas from someone, but that didn't happen. So I've got enough Christmas cash for a 'normal' iPod, but not a Photo. I don't really want a normal iPod, so I think I'll wait for MacWorld to see what comes out. Assuming the only iPod-related release is a Flash iPod, I'll have a tough decision between an iPod mini plus something else, or spending a little of my own cash for an iPod photo.

what did you GIVE for Christmas?

not to be the lameass of the bunch, but Christmas is the season for giving. i've enjoyed the thread about what everyone GOT for Christmas, but what did you GIVE? did anyone really make anyone's holiday special with a thoughtful gift?

i got my folks the seinfeld dvd sets and mast hoops from a period gaffed rigged sailing ship to decorate the basement (they're redoing it in a nautical/pub fashion) they were very surprised by the mast hoops, went over better than i thought.

Sister: Candle holders, other gifts pending

Boyfriend: Haven't exchanged gifts yet -- can't say anything, in case he reads this ;)

Duff-Man says...I don't really celebrate Christmas but I make an exception for an old friend in a city I used to live in - she's a single mom and her daughter is now 11 - still in that age where Christmas is important...so I send along a couple hundred $$ for mom to get some stuff....I'd buy stuff and send myself but I think it is a bit better for Mom to try and balance the stuff they *need* with the stuff they *want* - hopefully she gets a bit of both. And then today I gave another $75 to the disaster relief fund for South Asia......oh yeah!

Did you buy the U2 album off of iTunes, burn a CD, and then give her the CD thereby keeping a copy with you? It's a "backup", Mr. RIAA.... for safekeeping.... ;)

Can I be a good friend of yours? ;)

You gave your wife cash?

My girlfriend and I don't have anything either of us can call "my" money any more, it's all "ours". She'd be well peeved if I'd given her money, since she already has full access to my freaking bank account!

(Kidding, dear, I know you lurk.)

Cash is the universal gift certificate-good at every store. She beat it out the door with her mom on the 26th, left a trail of smoke to the after Christmas sales.
I looked for 2 other things for her, a food processor she wanted, and a watch to replace the one she broke 2 weeks ago. Couldn't find what I wanted to find, so $$$$ worked.

Since I posted in the "I got" thread, I feel obligated to post here :)

Fiance: Donald Driver (Green Bay Packers) jersey & bobblehead guy, fleece blanket
Mom: Bourne Supremacy DVD, charm with my school's name on it
Dad: 12 pc. barware set (beer glasses, margarita glasses, martini glasses) for the glass block bar he is building in our basement
Brother: Star Wars Trilogy & Altoids
Sister: Butterfly Effect DVD
Great Aunt (A fellow Mac user): iTunes Gift Card
Fiance's Mom: Fiddler on the Roof DVD
Fiance's Dad: Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again
Fiance's Brother: Multisystem selector for TV->game systems (he has almost all of them)

It was a good Christmas, and it was really great to spend time with both my family including my grandpa and his wife as well as most of my fiance's family. Her grandparents live an hour away from my parent's house, so we spent a bit of time shuttling back and forth - from her mom's side to my place to her dad's side back to my place and so on :D
