with iOS 11 and the new iPads.. check in here and share the following:

What laptop you're selling
What iPad you're buying
Why you're doing it

I'll start - selling ThinkPad E470 for an iPad Pro because I miss my Mac and iOS 11 promises to do a better job of my workflow than Windows 10. It's been an interesting month and a half but the TP is going.

iPad Pro 10.5 Gold with some definite case and keyboard - specific to be decided on. Not sure if I want a stand, full size keyboard and standalone case or an all in one. No pen for me, not creative enough.

I can't afford a Mac and at half the price of the MacBook iPad Pro looks like it's more than capable of my workflow as an accounting and business student. Newsflash to others in my boat, even if you work with the likes of Sage they won't let you use your personal device for confidential client data anyway so don't be fooled into thinking you need that sort of functionality. Also, remember, campus PC access is there for you so you're never screwed in that regard.

From what I seen, the smaller iPad Pro might someday replace my iPad Air 2,but not my laptop. There are things like third party software and hardware that need USB ports that makes me keep my MacBook Pro.
iOS is too tightly tied to App Store to be a replacement for my laptop.

I tried the switch, ultimately I went back to having both. I think if you travel frequently though or give presentations on the regular that it would make sense. For my work i need a mobile desktop, right now thats still a macbook pro.

Based on how the Files app actually integrates with apps and the OS, I am likely to finally get rid of my iMac when iOS 11 is available in the fall.

Selling my 2016 MacBook for a 256GB 10.5 in Black. I have wanted to go iOS only for a while now, but have been limited by software. iOS 11 finally gave me everything I was looking for. Can't wait to get my new iPad and install the new software (worried it'll be buggy for a while).

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with the plan.

Only annoying thing is waiting until Fall for iOS 11.

If we wait to sell our current devices to then we're sure to lose out on some value.. do we sell now and swallow iOS 10 or hold off.. decisions

I'd recommend holding off UNTIL...
... the first wave of sales hit on the 10.5. If the previous iPad Pros were any indicator, the 10.5 should go on sale within the next 3-6 months.

2012 retina MacBook Pro for 12.9 iPad Pro 64gb. I am training to become a teacher next year and files, drag n drop and all other iOS 11 bits has made it all seem a little easier. Was planning on it before today anyway

Without trackpad or mouse support...you should keep your laptop. Your fingers just can't do all the work as fast as a trackpad or mouse....sorry but it cant.

That and the ability to dock to a larger screen.

I would actually attempt the move to an iPad Pro if it could dock to a mouse, keyboard, and monitor. Sometimes, ya gotta get stuff done.

I'll hold off on selling something that I know works how I need it to as far as a laptop. Already a sunk cost too.

Though the new IOS features may mean I could finally see a usage case for the keyboard as some thing more then a tacked on accessory to help justify the initial purchase.

I'm thinking about getting rid of my XPS 13 9350 for a 10.5" iPP. I have a gaming desktop so I don't really need a laptop.. I mostly use it for browsing Reddit/the web and watching Netflix. I think iPP could replace it easily.

I'm just torn between 10.5 and 12.9. I'd like the bigger screen for Netflix, but the smaller for portability.

Now with proper file support, drag and drop, etc... I'm really considering selling my late 2013 13" rMBP, and iPad Air 2, and replacing them with a 12.9" iPad Pro 512GB WiFi + Cellular.

In Australia, that's about $1800, if not more. Plus the Keyboard case.

The only things I use my MacBook for now are writing essays and managing my files. The rest can/is done on my iOS devices.

Not really worth selling my laptop. I'd be lucky if I could get $100 for it. Besides, sometimes websites don't play nice with mobile devices so I've always found it useful to have a Windows-based computer as backup.

I also use the laptop for encrypted iTunes backups of my iOS devices (usually when switching devices). Much faster restoring from iTunes than iCloud.
