I had an extremely stressful, yet interesting time with UPS this week. I figured I would share it with you guys as you might find it very interesting.
I, like many of you, preordered my Apple Watch on 4/10/15 at 3AM EST. I ordered a 38MM SS BSB watch, and added a 38MM SS Link Bracelet separately.
I received my watch on launch day. Last week my bracelet went into the shipping phase. It was set to be delivered to me in Mobile, AL on Friday, May 8th (my 21st birthday was May 7th ).
Well, for my birthday.. I was planning to leave May 7th and head to Tallahassee, FL for a League of Legends event called the Mid-Season Invitational.
Once I noticed my band was coming the next day and realizing I wouldn't be home for it, I had UPS hold it for pickup for Friday and decided I would just leave an day late. I planned on getting the package when UPS opened and immediately head to Florida.

I get packed, and while I'm packing, I get a call from my local UPS. They said they have my package ready to be picked up. I drive 30 minutes out of the way to the distribution center where it was held. I get there, wait in line for 30 minutes. When I get to the counter, I give them my ID and tracking number. The lady goes to grab my package.
15 minutes later, she comes back and says they are looking for it, but are unable to find it. I proceed to wait while they look for it for almost 3 hours. At this point, I'm extremely behind schedule and starting to worry I'll miss the League event I bought tickets for.
They take my number and say they'll call me if something comes up. I'm furious at this point. We immediately started a missing package investigation with UPS/Apple. Apple was very nice about this.
2 hours into my trip, when I'm 130 miles from home now, I get a call from a random local number, I assumed it was UPS.
Guy on phone: "Hello, is this (my name here)"
Me: "Yes, how can I help you?"
Guy: "This is (his name), I work at NAPA Auto Parts in (location 45 minutes from my house), I have a package with your name on it for an Apple Watch.
"
Me: *Currently freaking out* Asked him if I could call back and see if a relative could go get it from him for me.
My father was able to get it after making a long drive to this store.
So in summary, UPS gave my package to the wrong people with no signature, no ID, nothing. The package still shows its at the UPS location but missing.
I contacted Apple and they said since UPS failed to obtain a signature, thus failing to fulfill their shipping agreement, that UPS would be billed for the full price of the watch band, so Apple gets reimbursed.
Apple is issuing me a refund since in the system I never technically received my band. I get to keep the band and I get my money back to compensate for all my time/effort.
I will never use UPS again if I can help it.
