So now hackers do God's will? Which is it old geezers? Is the Internet bad and hackers good? Make up your dam minds...

As a poster here once said...

"They are way past their best-before date"

Fr. Antonio Spadaro makes a distinction between "hackers", which he sees as ethical and creative, and "crackers", who engage in criminal behavior!

Hacking is not moral or ethical behavior even if for a greater good.

So if a hacker hacks into Antonio Spadaro computer and finds kiddy porn then the hacker is a criminal. But, if a hacker hacks into say a Planned Parenthood computer and releases personal information then the hacker is doing gods work.

    :(

Oh wait, I think I've got it. He's saying that Hackers are good and Crackers (Southern white person) are bad. Or is he referring to a software cracker, or password cracker, or Cracker the band, or Cracker comics, or Cracker the British TV show, or... I can't make up my mind. I'm worse than the Vatican. Quick someone get me an alter boy to whip me for I can't make up my mind.

Hacker: A person who enjoys exploring the details of programmable systems and how to stretch their capabilities, as opposed to most users, who prefer to learn only the minimum necessary.

Cracker: An individual who attempts to gain unauthorised access to a computer system. These individuals are often malicious and have many means at their disposal for breaking into a system.

So you base all of this on one hacker? Just one? Come now. You do realize the definitions you posted although in dictionary are not the ones publicly known right?

Hacker is someone who hacks into computers for a personal gain. Like looking for sensible data or credit card data.

Crackers are like hackers, except they circumvent copyright checks, Like DRM.

So you are tellin me that the Vatican is expressly supporting a group that breaks into other people's computer? Awesome. Glad I can trust the Vatican with my stuff.

No, he is using the technically accurate uncommonly used definition. These definitions are even in the Apple dictionary.

Yet no one uses them. You are grasping straws against the perceived popular and movie driven definition.

Also, nonetheless, hackers still don't do God's work. They do their own dam work for their own personal benefit. Unless that is, the Vatican is now paying people to hack into systems for fun...

Don't worry. The people who have/will post supportively on this thread are the ones who normally call out spelling and grammar.

    So, it's cool.

Mouth-breathers are few and far between on an Apple forum, but we do have a few.
