iPod touch The wait is killing me

I placed an order for my 16GB touch on Oct. 1, and it won't arrive until 16-22. Why does it take them 7-10 days to ship the thing? I would like it by this weekend, as I'm going on a trip and would like my music, but I doubt that's going to happen. The wait is killing me...

You know you could just leisurely walk into a Best Buy, Circuit City, or even a Wal-Mart and find plenty of them there. I got mine from Best Buy a month ago and I love it.

Well, I'm using Apple's "Don't pay for 90 days" policy, so walking into a store to buy it is out of the question. Why is it that stores have them in stock, but Apple won't be able to ship them for 7-10 days?
