I’ve got some money burnin a hole in my pocket and was thinking of splurging it on the iPhone XS.

I am currently using the iPhone X running iOS 12.

I upgrade every year. It would cost about the same (in monthly payments) to keep the same phone for two years and then upgrade, so why not always have the newest one. I notice a big difference in the camera on the XS, especially low light photos. It’s the first phone I’ve had that I’m happy with the low light capabilities. The water resistance is improved and it’s faster. You’ll really notice the increased speed with the FaceID unlock.

Can you please explain the cost thing?

Like how it costs the same?

I was referring to the monthly payments using the iPhone Upgade program. The payments are about $56 a month regardless if you keep the X or upgrade to an XS. You’ll have to pay tax twice rather ran once and you won’t have a two-year-old phone to sell at the end of the two years (worth about $400), but the monthly charge is the same.

I am really just not sure it's worth the upgrade at this point, but if you got the money and and can sell your iPhone X for a few dollars it could offset the cost to purchase. That is what many have done.

I went from a 256 X to a 512 XS and am happy to have my entire music and photo collections plus a good amount of free space for 4K video.

Do it if you really care about a much better camera (mostly A12 powered HDR), 512 GB storage, Dual Sim or additional LTE bands. Getting the Max size or being on the iPhone Upgrade Program are also good reasons.

Don’t do it if you are on Verizon because you’ll notice an inferior modem (Intel vs Qualcomm) or spend time in low signal areas on any carrier as the antenna design seems much worse with fringe signal.

I vote no, don’t do it. Use the money for something else you need or want, or save it ...no point buying another product that does the same exact thing as the one you already own imo.

Since you already own the iPhone X, what would compel you to upgrade to the iPhone XS? What do you like about it? Do you think it would offer _you_ that much of a difference spending XYZ amount of dollars for phone that is vastly similar? Those are the questions that you need to ask yourself, as your post doesn’t explain anything else besides asking ‘Do you think I should do it’?

I upgraded to other XS Max and it was worth it. To me the screen looks better and is smoother, the camera is much better.
