Hi, all. I just upgraded my iPhone 13 mini to iOS 18 yesterday, and there was something that I lost that I haven't been able to figure out yet. I use RideWithGPS when I ride my bike. Up through iOS 17, it featured a lock screen widget: with my phone mounted on my handlebars I could just tap on it and get my current mileage without unlocking it. I don't remember ever setting that up, though I might have and forgotten it. Felt like something obvious since the app is running while I'm riding.

Went for a ride yesterday after my iOS 18 update, and the live activity wasn't there on the lock screen. I figured OK, it was something I needed to set up fresh after the upgrade, I'd look into it later. But I can't find how to enable it. I already have Ride With GPS Live Activities turned on in Settings (it saved that setting from before the upgrade, it wasn't something I turned on while I was investigating); is there a system setting to enable it to appear on the lock screen? I noticed that Sports did show up later in the day (even though I purposefully have Live Activities turned off for Sports.

Hi. Kevin from Ride with GPS here. Unfortunately Apple made changes to the Live Activity feature with the iOS 18 update, making them.....not so live anymore. You can read more about it here: https://9to5mac.com/2024/08/31/live-activities-ios-18/
In light of this, we've pulled Live Activity from our latest app release to see what we can do, or more precisely what metrics we might be able to still offer that make sense with the new "delayed" updates of iOS 18.

Wow wth.. It’s always one step forward, two steps back with Apple, why do they hamstring their own devices like this..
