it was planned from teh begining. Obamafail is a path to a single payer system so that everyone stuck on the plan gets the quality care that the VA provides.

Those of us who can afford it will continue to go elsewhere and pay our way and get great care the rest of those who can will continue to get stuck with milk from the gov't teet which is never good.

    Anyone really surprised?

In 2015, I was uninsured. I believe the tax penalty I paid was around $1,800. No medical appointments (outside of dentist).

This year, my bear bones United Heatthcare plan will cost $3,224.40. No medical appointments (outside of dentist).

Got a notice that the United Healthcare plan I'm currently on won't be offered next year. I assume that's their way of saying it will be more expensive again next year.

If that's the case, will go back to the tax penalty approach.

You know what is sad? I actually support social health care for U.S. Citizens. I have used Germany's system and found it to be fairly effective. The problem is that this was screwed right out the gate and is passing all the costs on to the people who actually have decent polices by jacking their rates up. My deductible (for the same plan) increased 2300%. Yeah, this thing is fair...

and who the hell thought it was a good idea to penalize someone for not having insurance? If you can't afford it, how do you plan to collect those fines at the end of the year?

so go back to the way it was then huh? that was so good for sure. I have money so screw everyone else attitude no wonder you love trump so much.
how much of this is because the GOP hacked up the plan so much that it was like a shell of the original?

You might want to contact United Healthcare about that ASAP. Earlier this year, they (along with Humana and now Aetna) indicated they are dropping out of many of the state exchanges entirely. They may not offer any ACA insurance at all in your state.

And you support this failing system? You're right, we should leave it and watch it totally collapse, at least how it was in the past was working and I wasn't paying through my nose. I can't afford to get sick now as it would probably bankrupt me.

Even if it was "hacked", Obama passed it.

All part of the plan for failure and single payer to "solve" the problem that government created.

it was a massive tax on the poor & low information voters who thought it was free.
the out of pocket cost are pretty high even if they do buy insurance, Obama found a way to finance the war on the back of the poor who lost their EIC to the penalty. over 300 million introducing this mess, he could have bought almost 1 million worth of insurance per person at that cost, instead he fleeced the people.

what was there was failing I am all for one payer system thats what oboma was after wasn't he?
if congress actually tried to fix it instead of trying to destroy it it would be better.
for the first time in at least 20 years I have insurance and the price was good. others have it too.

single payer seems to work elsewhere, so perhaps we should explore the idea .

The name really should be changed to more accurately reflect this reality: The Unaffordable Care Act.

I'm not sure where you have been living the last 50 years, but if you haven't noticed, Congress doesn't have a track record of fixing anything.

*shakes head and wonders when people are going to wake the hell up*

I am super liberal when it comes to healthcare but this plan is horrible and I personally don't think it can be fixed. Have you read it? I have... It is destined to fail.

congress destroyed it through no actions but trying to repeal it.

was it horrible at first or was it horrible after it was hacked up to death?

Perhaps that was part of it, but these are the same people you want to fix it. See the problem?
    --- Post Merged, Aug 16, 2016 ---
Both... I had to read it for my Grad work and neither one of them were actually coherent and concise. The hack certainly didn't help, but it was crap before it was hacked as well.

Hey, I'm all for a German style pay in a single digit % to help out my fellow man, but don't go raping us to do so. Yes, I do have money Steve, I work my tail off for it and I do expect that my care will exceed those that don't. Sorry but it's not wrong for some of us to get more when we work harder, make more and in many instances pay more. Sorry pal but that's life.

No, I don't support paying a wage for someone just because they can't make their budget, no, I'm sorry, I don't feel I should have to pay for you to go get the same level of care I have access to; you're not my family, you're just a fellow citizen. Here's a helping hand but no you don't get to live in my lifestyle unless you can achieve my life style. I hold you and others to the same level of expectations I hold myself.

Bug off on sharing other people's wealth to the extent you think you can. If you want that life Steve, MOVE to a socialist country and stay the hell out of ours. The fact that you haven't had insurance for 20+ years, for reasons of your own doing not anyone eles's, shouldn't burden me and others.

your attitude about poor people is typical all poor people are poor cause they are lazy they can't manage their money they are losers they are hood rats they are worth less and on and on.
sorry but your for capitalism and that creates poor people there will always be poor and they are not all lazy or worthless. you love to believe so you can feel better about yourself. Most poor people people work harder then you do and they don't go around bragging how great they are like you tend to do.

but you are for no heath care for anyone not doing well. thats where we were people could not afford it at all because the US has the highest healthcare cost of any country. but hey so what I got mine screw you if you are not like me. typical attitude based on lies you tell yourself so you can be smug.

In Texas, the ACA was the single largest factor in increasing the insured rolls. Numbers makes a big difference.

A decade a go in, Minneapolis, my dentist decided to stop honoring Cigna Dental Insurance, with 10 thousand families in the region covered by Cigna. Within 6 months they were inviting (begging?) us back.

Exactly right. It used to be that kids were taught to aspire to be successful and rich, and be like them. Now kids are taught that successful and rich people earned their money and success off the backs of the poor, the downtrodden, the hungry, the thirsty, etc., and that they are terrible selfish people. Case in point: Look at the economic team Trump assembled... mostly rich and successful people in business or investing or banking who were criticized by SJWs for being such. Frankly, I would like to see more people like this, not less. I would much rather see kids grow up to be like the Donald Trumps of the world than the Barack Obamas.
