    what the mother said.
no word on WHY the kid was going to be suspended in the first place, corporal punishment if ANY should be by the parent at HOME IMHO.

Should be taking a page out of the 50s and paddling in the front of the class, not in the privacy of the principal's office; humiliation is a wonderful motivator.

Works great for bullies not so much for the victims.

Thought it was a bit much to go after her for truancy over 1 day but it turns out he has missed almost 4 weeks of school already this school year.

I wouldn't have let the old bag hold my kids hands like that let alone sat their while the other one gets a paddle. Teacher ever struck my kid with anything and they'd be eating through a straw for 6 months.

I can understand the sentiment from a parents perspective, but the child's assault, should not be 'corrected' with an assault from educators, and the parent should not react to the educators with an assault (as much as I'd probably want to too).... Then again maybe everyone should hit everyone else until the kid realizes that all these assaults are just causing more trouble and learn the lesson that way.

Exactly. I wouldn't have filmed it, I would have marched right.

Hit my kid, "It's clobbering time."

I was raised on the old adage, "Do as I say not as I do". There won't be any talking when someone is threatening physical harm to my 5yr old. I'll kill the mother****er before I let someone lay a hand on him.

And, it's important to note that my kid would never go to a place where corporal punishment is used.

I believe it's the wrong way to teach children about respect, honesty, and compassion. It teaches them the wrong lessons, mainly that adults are capricious and cruel. And, that respect ultimately comes through force.

Personally I'd have filmed it. That way the revenge is served cold.

Paddling is too good for her. What kind of parent lets their kids miss 18 days of school?:mad::mad: That's nearly 10% of the school year the kid hasn't been in classes. And the kid spitting and hitting other kids? Lack of parenting is the reason the kid acts the way he does. Mom AND Dad needs clobbering.

My kids know not to throw a punch or Dad will whip out the BeltTM or a miniature mace (when I'm feeling Medival)o_O. I earned the nickname Knave of :D.

How the hell is this still legal??? Is it just a southern thing?

Edit: yep, of course it is. Socially backwards at every possible turn. Reason #1,753,973 why I would never live in the right wing cesspool. Federal law should ban this practice....

My two boys know they're in deep **** if they throw the first punch. Some kid hits them, do what you have to do to defend yourself. I'll never get mad at them for that.

I'd be really interested in the kid's home situation. When kids hit and spit, it's because they don't know what to do with their emotions. So, hitting a kid doesn't do anything for them, they'll just learn to strike out when they won't get caught.

    Instead, they need compassion.

I'm not sure about that graphic. What's legal in the red states?

Corporal punishment in schools is legal in the red states on the chart. Legal in 19 states, banned in 31. Should be banned in all 50. image.png
