How nice it would be if we could all agree to objectively put together some kind of table or summary of the pros and cons of each panel (as a general rule, even if there are always exceptions), so it could serve as a reference for those who have doubts or are thinking about playing the screen lottery. I think there’s already enough data to do it. But I’m afraid that’s not going to happen.

There’s already enough data to show that such a table would be a complete waste of time and would not be representative of anything realistic. Also, you need to get a life, honestly.

This thread is amazing……so many posts trying to reach a conclusion that is unreachable. Even between the same screen “models” there are always variations. There is no absolute of which one is best and what can be perceived the best to someone might be bad to someone else. Without lab equipment, a proven testing and sampling methodology, all of this is anecdotal and inconclusive. I do have a GVC, which looks quite good and no defect that I have been able to identify, but I haven’t been looking for it obsessively either.

when I toggle PWM top right screen turns purple. IPhone 17 pro(G9P) with True Tone on. Is this normal?
Updating to 26.1 today appears to have fixed this on my 17PM. Now when toggling on the PWM switch there’s no odd tint and the screen is uniform. Did the update change anything for you?
when I swipe between the camera and some app the brightness pulses like this look at the second video. The first video it's pulses after reels or stories or hdr content. look at the bottom of the screen iph 16pm ios 26.1 RC i'm really worrying about it/ HEEELLP is it normal or not? NOBODY COULDN'T HELP I SO SAD/ gUYS HELP ME PLEASE I'M FROM GEORGIA, KUTAISI CITY

The update to 26.1 today fixed the flicker issue when swiping to certain screens. Did it address your issue?

Good morning! No. I also have this issue, what do you think about it? Idk
After I open the camera and then swiping like in the video, my screen seems to brighten up a lot and then darkens like in the video through some kind of green pulsating light filters. Maybe it's because I have a bit of a green tint at the bottom line the screen when I'm looking straight at the screen and it's coming back? I don't know, I have never noticed it before. Also when I turning on flashlight 🔦 my screen brighten up and then the same process like with camera and hdr content.

a little bit green tinting
It’s with reduce white point on the 1 photo
G9P it’s on my 16pm with tt and night shift

Maybe due to this tinting I have the issue above? But I haven’t seen this issue like on my video before

Yes, that’s right. So you can keep obsessively defending a panel manufacturer brand.

If it bothers you that there are different opinions, that’s your problem, not mine.

But I’m not going to play your game. Let’s not bore or tire the other users.

You have an unhealthy obsession with me. If you don’t like what I have to say, don’t read me. Or ignore me. Whatever’s easier for you.

Hmm, no I don't have that issue sorry. Your fluctuating brightness issue doesn't have anything to do with the green tinting, that's just how your screen is. Maybe 26.1 addresses issues differently on the 16PM and 17PM?

Do you think this brightens up and then returning like in my video isn't related to the tint? I just thought maybe it returns to its original tint after lightening. Watch the video again and what I found on YouTube. I updated to 26.1 and everything is the same. But I haven’t this before I suppose

I noticed True Tone changing my displays back and forth between my Air and 17P. One was warm.. the other wasn't. and vice versa after a few secs. It was like color tint ping pong. Both phones running 26.1. Eventually they both ended up looking the same.

I think you are confusing me with someone else, as I have not defended a panel manufacturer here even once. Moreover, I even indicated that I have both panels in 2 different phones. On top of that, since you’re so hung up on bringing TVs into this conversation (which couldn’t be more irrelevant), I can add that I have an LG OLED TV in my living room.
Furthermore, the only unhealthy obsession here is your OCD, but go ahead and create that table of personal anecdotes that no one has asked for.

I don't think it's related to the tint, no. But I am not an Apple engineer 😂. It may be true tone and auto brightness settings just messing with the screen brightness?

So today it happened. After quite a few exchanges I got a G9N panel. I’m currently using a Cosmic Orange unit with a G9P. My 16 Pro also had a G9P. (The left image is the Silver G9N Max, right is Cosmic orange G9P Max). Hard to appreciate the difference but take my word for it.

My G9N is…💩. Kinda shocked. It has a similar green tint when compared to the LG units I’ve been getting again and again (GVC or GH3). It off axis color shifts to worsening green. I was pretty positive I got another LG display with how this one looked, except there is no visible grain to it. Once I check raw-panel I was shocked to find it said G9N. Floored, really. And sad. All this talk of the G9N unicorn and it is significantly worse than my G9P. I will be keeping the G9P and shut my mind up about this from here on out. Lesson… don’t chase a manufacturer. Seriously, don’t. If you like how it looks is all that matters!!!

It must be pointed out that NONE of these panels look as good as my 16 Pro Display from last year or the 15 Pro before that or the 14 Pro. These panels are all trending more and more greenish yellow for the white point.

And if we want to point out the Pros getting all the better displays LOL. The one and only one I got was a BOE panel (J5V), so horrifically grainy, color shifting from pink to green when just hardly moving it. Move your hand even a little bit and it shifts.

APPLE!!!! What are you doing!? These displays are not good! Love, your display obsessed nerd!
My number one YouTuber panel display critiquere from back in the days. Good to see you on here. 👍🏼

Already returned that phone. Besides the issue with the PWM, it had a weird sound when opening camera. I got another 17 pro and this one doesn’t have the issue with the camera and the flickering is barely noticeable(even on iOS 26.0.1). Also, I think the screen is better than what I had before, this one is G9N. Last 17 pro has a small gap(top corner) between screen and frame, I can see some metals there and drives me crazy.

Was able to get my hands on a sliver pro max 256gb. Here are some pics. It’s definitely a Samsung but not sure which one

It’s definitely a Samsung. Even with that blinding brightness, you can still notice a bit of pink hue at the bottom. If it still looks that subtle under normal brightness, I’d say it’s a good panel. It reminds me of my old G9N 15 Pro.

Got me a blue 256GB 17 PM last Saturday and I was comparing it with my older 13 Pro (G9N), with the 17 Pro Max being a GH3 panel. The former is a tad bit brighter and colors are more vibrant, but has this pinkish hue, grain and screen uniformity issues that I didn't really notice that much in the 4 years that I've owned it. The latter is a bit less bright, colors pop a bit less but is more uniform and I don't see the greenish tint towards the bottom that are shown in the numerous examples that I've seen in this thread. I don't think I have it in me to play the lottery as it's satisfactory, it's just irritating to think that not all phones are equal.

Fun fact, I just recently sold my Samsung panel QD-OLED monitor for an LG WOLED for the over-saturation but also mostly due to the pixel layout (whatever's Samsung using is ass) for text. I've also fished for Samsung panels on the Steam Deck due to the dead pixels adventures with BOE panels until I got slapped with Mura effect woes. This whole lottery thing is just painful it's making me hate OLED altogether. I ain't gonna repeat the same with the iP17PM. Just gonna have to accept it I suppose especially since my panel ain't that bad.

Too many landmines. I am so blessed my Samsung equipped 512gb glossy launch OLED Steam Deck has not even a hint of mura.

it probably isn't perfect in some form, because truly such a thing doesn't exist, but at the same time I haven't seen any content that makes me question the quality of it. Ever. Other than I think smaller finer text is a little lacking, but that may be more 720p display at that size than sub pixel structure - hard to say.

..I can't say the same about my Samsung equipped launch era OLED switch. I have to keep auto brightness off and set at a very granular 70 some odd percent brightness to cutdown on an uneven green blob that can show up but only in very specific near black scenes (it's rare). Wasn't enough to do the swap game, either. But if you move the brightness slider up and down on a near black slide, it will do all sorts of weird things - the way it applies voltage at different brightness levels on Switch OLED specifically is a very strange implementation.

And the thing sits in a drawer since I use my Switch 2 now :p

IMO if you've avoided the uneven green blob off axis, and can cope with a greener off axis (hopefully uniform though), you got nothing to worry about with a good individual GH3. That I've seen with my own eyes at least.

You can be the judge of that. I just removed the screen protector as I was gonna replace it with a privacy one anyway and I feel it got brighter/as bright as my 13P’s G9N.
