I don't want the "2d trick" because that clearly looks nothing like Tiger. I'm trying to get the true tiger dock into leopard and I don't want to have to go digging through my OS disk. Does anyone have the files or one of those patched things that the custom docks use for the old Tiger dock?

The only surefire way to get 100% of the function back is to downgrade to Tiger. Apple has changed the dock, and you will like and learn to use it!

Don't make me downgrade :(

I love...

Well, actually I don't really like anything about leopard but I guess time machine is nice (although 2 out of every 5 backups fails for some ungodly reason)

To have the same 2d dock that is available in left and right sides, do the following:

OPEN TERMINAL AND TYPE
defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock
the press enter
If you want to reverse, just change the boolean YES for boolean NO.
Good luck

He clearly said he doesn't want to do the 2D dock trick:rolleyes:

Ups, but tiger dock sux, When I had tiger I used clear dock!, the white background looked bizarre to me...
Ok, sorry, good luck...

Thank you so much, been looking for this, first i was hesitant to do this, because this terminal thing seems very serious, and i can screw things up easily, but i took the risk for my self, no im enjoying my 2d dock, its better than tigers 2d dock by far!!

Not as of today :)

And the OP says he doesn't "want to have to go digging through" his hard-disk. ;)

To OP: Sorry, as of today it can't be done without digging through your HD.

The terminal command isn't as risky as it thought, leoparddocks looks scary, and you need admin password

This will not make a major change, but I did not like the program indictators buttons on the dock.

Drill down to /System/Library/CoreServices and right-click on the Dock application and Show Package Contents.
Now open the /Contents/Resources folder and drag all the files that begin with indicator_ to the Trash.
Open the attached Tiger Indicator.zip archive and drag all the files inside into the /Dock/Contents/Resource folder. Log out and back in. Done.

There is an option in tinker tools to remove the 3-d dock. It changes to a 2d dock. Not exactly the same as Tiger because it was a darker background then the tiger one, but similar.

Out of curiosity, will any of these address the issue where the first icon of a folder show on the right side vs. that folder? i.e. applications, documents, etc.?

That would kill me if I move to Leopard.

Do you mean the default icon for a stack being the contents of that stack condensed into the space of one icon?

In the attached example, I have shown how a stack folder can be set to show as the folder icon, or a representation of the icons within that folder.

This functionality is included with Mac OS X 10.5.3 and up.
