"Bad guys will carry. They know how to work around laws. If we don't carry, the people we affect [by not being prepared] are the good people. They are the 99.9999pc of people who are good."

With a minor tweak, reasoning and line of thinking is the same as gun nuts.

Im not saying that like its a bad thing necessarily, just lol

And in both cases bad guys and potentially government are the adversary. Double LOL

It doesn't say anything about guns in the article you're sourcing.

Yes, Tim Cook is a card-carrying member of the NRA. :D

I agree, arguments for gun rights and data privacy are both based on a certain degree of paranoia. But I think most people would agree that the concern for data privacy is much more rational.

How many Americans are killed and injured every day because if encryption?

I'll check the CDC, and see what they say.

He's 100% correct on encryption and he'd be 100% correct if he was talking about guns.

    I'm stumped.

Having used Google, Bing and Yahoo search I can't find the video showing the gun that kills people.

Seems that every video I come across... its the humans picking up the gun and using it instead of a knife or other weapon to carry out their intentions of killing.

This fact seems to baffle the haters. Curious really...

    Guns are inanimate objects.

Perhaps that will clear up your confusion.

I'm not even understanding what you're trying to say. Everyone should carry? There should be no restrictions on carrying? We should push carrying on everyone? There's nothing wrong with carrying?

Umm no, you're wrong. Believe it or not, we understand that yes, it is the guns in the hands of others who do the killing. I don't think it's us who's baffled here, since you can't understand this simple fact.

But, just as we regulate car driving with numerous rules and requirements because in the wrong hands, they can cause injury and death, so can a gun in the wrong hands.

And by saying "in the wrong hands" I am not talking about criminals. I'm talking about kids who get their hands on a gun their idiot parent left available and unlocked. I'm talking about the little paranoid government tyranny type who hasn't educated himself on how to actually use and handle such firearm but carries in public. I'm talking about Joe Bubba thinking he's Rambo and building a firing range in his front yard because "it's legal".

And whether someone would use a knife or other instrument is a completely different discussion, which I disagree with.

    Tim Cook on Privacy (guns)

I'm not saying anything of the sort.

Im saying Tim Cooks argument for encryption/privacy, mirrors very closely the line of thinking and prose of pro gun/pro carry folk.

So just to clear up your point, do you feel that any and all inanimate objects should be free of regulation?

Except he is arguing about two completely different things. Guns and encryption are totally different things and are not really directly analogous to each other.

Of course we have very specific laws about certain types of encryption - it is somewhat regulated and controlled.

Does anyone else find it funny how far anti gun regulation people have to reach sometimes?

Don't you find it disgusting how low gun regulators stope most of the time.

I still like your avatars :)

    Dies because of encryption?

I'm having a hard time making the connection.

Could you tie it together for me?

If you don't get why an advocate of mass surveillance would say that, have you even been paying attention?

    ----------

Unless you live way out in a rural area, say in Montana, an area where say, there might be bears for instance, and your nearest neighbor is far away, as well as any emergency services, you don't need to own a gun.

I take that to mean, "No. I can't explain to you why I made that last statement."

    Please ... try harder.
