Since I updated to 12.3 time machine takes quite a bit longer to complete and seems to be backing up more
I do a TM backup at the end of my day. It seems to be finding more files to backup but not a great deal more. The backup is taking at least twice as long as it used to. After finding the files - it list % and use to show the progress in amount of data move to backup. Now the amount of data goes to a value and stays there while the % moves very very slowly.
I've been on 12.3 since the day it was released.

Anyone else having similar issues with TM?
Thanks

I suggest to reset the Time Machine module, it may help.

1. Open TM Preferences an un-tick the box "Back Up Automatically".
2. Go to /Library/Preferences and drag to the bin the file com.apple.TimeMachine.plist (password will be required).
3. In TM Preferences tick the box, the file will be recreated and a new backup will be automaticaly taken in adition to the existing ones.

My TM hdd icon flashes from hdd icon to folder icon every time it writes multiple times a day. Kinda annoying.

I'm having a similar problem for the last several weeks. I plug in the Time Machine disk at the end of the day and it does a backup. For 7 days it seems fine - takes about 15 minutes. On the 8th day (Monday week 1, Tuesday a week + day later, Wed etc. The backup starts seeming OK but then the % hits about 50% and number for data copied stops but the % very slowly keeps going for at least another hour. So a 15 min backup takes about 1 1/2 hour. Again, data copied doesn't change but % grows very slowly.
Is it doing some indexing? Or converting the daily backups to a weekly backup. I have replace the backup disk but hasn't changed .
Any ideas and what I can do?
Thanks
