Time Machine reporting wrong update date

Hi everyone, my Time Machine has started to show the wrong backup dates. The sparsebundle date is correct, as you can see in the screenshot.

A restart didn't fix anything.

Is this a known OS bug or something I can fix?

If you go into TM what dates do you see? Are you sure that you have made backups since the 16th?

Yes, I made 2 backups on the 18th, just to confirm that there was an issue.

If I enter TM, I can access the backups from the 18th. It seems to be just the menu bar drop down which is the issue.

I have this exact same issue! It started as soon as I upgraded to macOS Ventura. I’m assuming it’s a bug as I have completely erased my backup disk and started from scratch. The initial backup will show the appropriate backup date, however, subsequent backups show the first backup date and time instead of the latest. Now I have no peace of mind as to whether my files are getting backed up or not. This should’ve never got past Beta.

The other thing I noticed is that if I go into Time Machine settings, it doesn’t think it’s set up as I’m asked if I want to select a disk for back up. Also, I can’t get to the options or see any prior exclusions that I’ve set up…

Just to clarify, my last backups were on the 18th of OCTOBER, so both dates shown in the screenshot are wrong. I didn't even notice until now that the sparsebundle modified date was in May. I was just looking at the "18" which was the expected result.

I’m having to do my backups manually now as it just says waiting for backup in the status bar icon.

Hi there, I'm having the exact same issue as the first poster - my drop down menu on my desk top for backups says last back up in June 2023, but I've backed up multiple times since. When I go into Time Machine it looks as though my latest back up is there. However I'm left feeling not quite confident that all is well. Does anyone know if this is just a bug with the drop down menu, or a more serious issue?
