I just a wish they would ignore nefarious and look for the best in human beings with the most impact, then start a second category, Nefarious Person or ******* of the Year. Now Trump should win that one 3 years running. For this year, my vote would be for Robert Mueller hands down, not this:

Personally I think they put Trump on there at this point just to troll him and make him think he's going to be selected.

I imagine the only people who care about this is the winner, and the 6 people who bought TIME magazine at an airport kiosk .

If Trump wins, so what. If anyone else wins, so what . No one's life is going to change either way .

That's very true. In 2006 I was Time Magazine's Person of the Year (truthfully, not lying), and my life didn't change at all.

Is Time pulling an April Fools joke on us early? If those are the nominees, then Trump actually has a shot.

I'll never forget when the Beastie Boys got inducted into the hall of fame before Rush (the band) did, whose been around and selling out concerts since the 70s. It's no slight against the Bestie Boys but Rush had deserved it for a lot longer. Then I'm reminded of the fact that it's just a few pencil neck editors in a room making this decision, so really, who gives a rats ass.

I don't understand this analogy, given that the Beastie Boys were great and Rush sucks.

If they went 100% by their rules, then trump would have to win it again. The man sneezes and it's international news.

It's the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and Rush was clearly famous.

It's not the Rock & Roll Hall of What's Great, which would be very problematic due to how subjective musical taste is.

Apparently, a couple of pencil necks in an editorial meeting agree. Congratulations to all three of you.

Juxtapose that with "your mom threw away your best porno mag". The musicianship of those Beastie Boys was top notch, while they may have never played more than 3 chords in their lives, I'm going on the assumption they may have learned another one at some point.

This is off topic but man this has got me for many years.

Lee’s voice isn’t really that bad but.

His nose man . The guys nose has always bugged me . Often he seemed like a bloody witch.

    Ha !

    carry on

So the media picks the media to be person of the year. And everyone just threw up a little inside.

Yes, I get sick at how the media is now a target, literally.

Or, in my case, teared up a little. The Time Person of the Year is a silly effort at self promotion by an increasingly irrelevant weekly magazine,* but American journalists are, by and large, patriots whose constant denigration by the ******* in the Oval Office is shameful and they deserve this sort of recognition.

    _____
*I don’t mean to suggest that Time is becoming irrelevant due to anything they’ve done. I mean that the form of a weekly print magazine is effectively on its last legs.
