Is this just how the material is like or else what could've happened to it? Haven't noticed it at all until yesterday when I was cleaning my keyboard. Now that I've seen it already I can't unsee it.. Thanks guys.

The (plastic) keys themselves are translucent for the illumination effect and then coated with the black stuff.
If the plastic surface is uneven (improper molding) or debris got stuck on top of it before the coating process, the layer is thinner in this spot and as it slightly protrudes, it is worn down very easily.
There are worse examples (not implying this isn't worth criticizing):
There are several possibilities: live with it, try to return it/ get it repaired, replace this individual key or repaint the spot with black ink.

You can try removing it somehow with your finger nails, if it doesn't remove on its own and it still bothers you then you can take it to an Apple Store and see what they can do for you, or calling customer support maybe
