Breaks my heart to see children die because of their parents cult like beliefs.

At least the kid probably tastes good. Was it real maple syrup, or that Log Cabin crap?

You would think that his parents would have at least bought the real stuff for their dying son.

Some Famous Amos will be just the ticket to calm things down.

Thankfully, you don't get the disease by having a cocktail of urine and maple syrup.

This is a sad unfortunate result of believing that an alternative form of treatment was the best approach. Not unlike the decision Steve Jobs made that robbed him of any chance of survival.

I do agree to some degree but there are two main differences, first being that this was a curable condition and the second being that this was a decision for another person. Comparing pancreatic cancer to meningitis is a little disingenuous.

Sickening. If they have other kids they should be taken away. Holding off for 2 weeks and respiratory arrest until going to the hospital in a case like this is negligence. Meningitis has serious symptoms (and can lead to permanent neurological damage)! Before someone brings up insurance, no hospital would turn away a small child with meningitis.

I'm sure the parents thought they were doing everything right but the fact is they're not medical practitioners. My brother died from meningitis a few years ago at 24. I get the resistance to use drugs, I'm a less is more practioner myself, but at some point you have to concede all the cures cannot be found in healthy food and lifestyle modification.

Maple Syrup? Berries? Peppers? I'll have to check the clinical data versus the usual Vancomycin and Dexamethasone cocktail. Ridiculous. If serious disease could be cured with nuts and berries I'm pretty sure insurance and world experts wouldn't be wasting all this money on expensive drugs.

People need to stop playing doctor and using whatever the organic WebMD is. I'm all for informed, collaborative decision making on treatments, but not without actually having a medical professional leading the treatment.

Sure they would! Big Pharma suppresses any information concerning 100% natural Gaia approved remedies in order to sell their overpriced snake oil to a blinkered population.

Do you see homeopathy practiced in hospitals? Do you sell homeopathic medications over the counter at your pharmacy?

    ...that's what I thought.
