    Top secret "28 pages" may hold clues about Saudi support for 9/11 hijackers

    Former Senator Bob Graham and others urge the Obama administration to declassify redacted pages of a report that holds 9/11 secrets

    http://www.cbsnews.com/news/top-sec...-clues-about-saudi-support-for-911-hijackers/

    Current and former members of Congress, U.S. officials, 9/11 Commissioners and the families of the attack's victims want 28 top-secret pages of a congressional report released. Bob Graham, the former Florida governor, Democratic U.S. Senator and onetime chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, says the key section of a top secret report he helped author should be declassified to shed light on possible Saudi support for some of the 9/11 hijackers. Graham was co-chair of Congress' bipartisan "Joint Inquiry" into intelligence failures surrounding the attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, that issued the report in 2003. Graham speaks to Steve Kroft for 60 Minutes report to be broadcast Sunday, April 10 at 7 p.m. ET/PT.

    Graham and his Joint Inquiry co-chair in the House, former Representative Porter Goss (R-FL) -- who went on to be director of the CIA -- say the 28 pages were excised from their report by the Bush Administration in the interest of national security. Graham wouldn't discuss the classified contents, but says the 28 pages outline a network of people he believes supported hijackers in the U.S. He tells Kroft he believes the hijackers were "substantially" supported by Saudi Arabia. Asked if the support was from government, rich people or charities, the former senator replies, "all of the above."

    In addition to Graham and Goss, Kroft also speaks to former 9/11 Commission members U.S. Sen. Bob Kerrey and former Navy Secretary John Lehman; lawyers for family members of attack victims suing the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia; and to Tim Roemer, former Democratic U.S. Representative from Indiana who was the only person to serve on both Congress' Joint Inquiry and the 9/11 Commission. All of the former U.S. officials have read the redacted pages. Roemer says it's time to let everyone know what's in the top secret documents.

    Urging the president to release information regarding the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks upon the United States.

    • Whereas President George W. Bush classified 28 pages of the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 2001;
    • Whereas the contents of the redacted pages are necessary for a full public understanding of the events and circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001, attacks upon the United States;
    • Whereas the [Obama] executive branch’s decision to maintain the classified status of these pages prevents the people of the United States from having access to information about the involvement of certain foreign GOVERNMENTS in the terrorist attacks of September 2001; and
    • Whereas the people of the United States and the families of the victims of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks deserve full and public disclosure of the results of the Joint Inquiry: Now, therefore, be it

    Resolved, That it is the sense of the House of Representatives that—

    • the President should declassify the 28-page section of the Joint Inquiry into Intelligence Community Activities Before and After the Terrorist Attacks of September 2001; and
    • the families of the victims and the people of the United States deserve answers about the events and circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001, attacks upon the United States.

    It is more than just the Saudis, it is foreign governments (plural).

    So what's the plan if it shows Mexico was involved?

    It doesn’t. What’s the plan? Fmr. Sen. Bob Graham (D-FL), regarding post-declassification action:

    So, I again thank the Congressmen for their leadership. I hope that they will soon be joined by a rising tide of other members of Congress who recognize the importance of this issue. And then, finally, that the President of the United States will declare that he is going to adopt the Lincolnesque standard of full disclosure, and rely on the intelligence and judgment and patriotism of the American people to decide what the appropriate course of action should be.

    I'm sure Tony Blair himself organised the flight into the twin towers.

    It is not a waste of time, but it will be interesting to see how Obama reacts to this. He promised leading 9/11 family members to their faces, in 2009 and 2011, that he would declassify. Obama is committing outright treason against the United States by withholding the 28 pages, protecting 9/11 co-conspirators for their involvement in the 9/11 attacks. Next month, Fmr. Sen. Bob Graham (featured in tonight’s 60 Minutes) and Reps. Walter Jones and Stephen Lynch, are meeting with DNI James Clapper to demand the 28 pages are declassified immediately. Obama has no excuse for continuing to withhold the 28 pages.

    No. It’s funny you mention Tony Blair, because he might be named in the 28 pages. It was Tony Blair who shut down the investigation into ‘Al-Yamama,’ the British-Saudi Oil-for-Arms deal specifically detailed in the 28 pages relating to Britain (reportedly where some hijacker money originated: ‘Al-Yamama’ slush fund).
