iPhone 13 Pro MaxTook video of my flight take off (Daytime) and the phone kept trying to autofocus on the window and the outside leading to an unwatchable take off.
I tried to get as close to the window to avoid glare but no luck. The night landing was even worse. Can i turn off autofocus in video mode? My iphone 12 never had this issue.

I did tap to where i wanted it focused but had issues trying to focus. I would have to move the phone around till it finally focused on the outside but then maybe 10 seconds after it would start fighting with the window. Anyway to skip the autofocus?
Tap and hold until the focus locks on the point you selected. If focus still keeps wandering I think there are "manual" camera apps that allow you to take total control of the camera's settings.
Filmic Pro was going to be my suggestion. Gives you full control. Why don't Apple include facilities like that as standard? Because the iPhone's userbase is largely populated by the same kind of people who couldn't use a manual film camera.

It is very easy to take video through the window glass, you should just keep the phone on the window glass, and then there will be no focus issue because there will be no object between the phone and the wing of the plane.

I have filmed over 30 takes offs and landings easily with my previous iPhone without a hitch. This time around with the 13 pro max....i had issues. Thanks for the tip though. FYI there is a total of 3 windows between you and the outside.

I have experienced the same, I believe it is to do with the auto macro mode changing when it senses something close by (the window). When it thinks your taking a photo of the close object it swaps to macro mode which ruins the focus. With the new IOS versions there will be a way to disable this if it happens (it may already be added, I haven’t updated just yet). I’ve been having the same issue, seems amazing Apple didn’t realise earlier but at least it’s fixed.
