Just thought some would be interested in seeing googles top searches this year, along with some interesting trends throughout the year:

http://www.google.com/press/zeitgeist2005.html

I think from apple's viewpoint the most successful piece of news is that the terms "iPod" and "podcasting" aren't too far behind "mp3" in numbers of searches. When you consider the number of mp3 searches that may be iPod related and the number of people looking for mp3 tracks and not players, Apple must be proud that iPod scores pretty high, as does podcasting. It would be interesting to see results for Zen and Walkman alongside these figures too.

Apple also must be poleased to see one of the top gainers overall is "iTunes" and that out of the Froogle searches, (those searching for shopping related items), iPod and it's various flavours take 4 of the top 10 places.

I'm sure there are some inappropriate searches that top out those ;)

Janet Jackson top search of 2005?

I find her uninteresting, dull and not at all relevant in my daily life.

Those crazy americans...

Here's to the Crazy Ones

I suspect it's because of her "wardrobe malfunction" in the SuperBowl halftime show, not because she's interesting, relevant, or bright. It's all about the tittaaay.

Hmm Janet beating out Hurricane Katrina? I think I see something wrong with America. It also seems semi-strange that xbox 360 beat out the iPod.
