There aren't many ad campaigns that really get my attention, but Dos Equis "Most Interesting Man in the World" series, with actor Jonathan Goldsmith somehow struck a chord with me.

Maybe it's my age, but there was something charming about a gentleman of a certain age (and a couple of decades or so on me) being able to pull off what twenty-somethings with perfect hair and six-pack abs couldn't possibly do.

For various corporate reasons, Dos Equis decided to switch pitchmen this year, sending Mr Goldsmith's "Most Interesting" on a one-way trip to Mars. (Apparently equipped with a dinner jacket and a comely female companion to help him while away the hours.)

Dos Equis did, however, release a trailer for their new "Most Interesting": 41 yr-old French actor Augustin Legrand.

Call me undecided. Some things I'm not sure you can, or should, replace.

I think that the new guy just looks like the old guy - 30 years younger.

... with none of the subtle whimsy.

It's the difference between "truly interesting" (before) and "cartoonish action hero" (after).

Well, at least it's not a Heineken or Stella ad spot.

Mexico is sending us some of their beer, and Dos Equis qualifies as "not deplorable".

Just roll with it, at least it's not another Trump or Clinton thread.

I thought exactly the same thing.

Even the old MIMITW was interesting at a young age.

So I have no problem with this new one.

*I* think they are going in a completely opposite direction. The woman at the end is the most interesting person in the world.

    ;)
