Track pad two fingered scroll with Reading List item in safari window

I like to use the two-fingered scroll gesture to move up and down a webpage in Safari.
I don't like using the two-fingered swipe to act as the back command to go to the previously viewed webpage in the browser window. So I easily solve that by turning it off.

The problem comes when viewing a Reading List item in the safari browser window, and using the two-fingered scroll to move up and down. Instead of halting at the top or bottom of the page in the browser window, it hops the webpage for next item in the Reading List. I find this crazy annoying. I'm pretty sure that this unfortunately can't be turned off so that it functions the way it does when I am not viewing an page selected in the Reading List. Am I wrong? Last ditch effort to see if there is a solution out there I'm missing that allows me to turn it off, but keep the scroll function on track pad.

In Safari, you can't disable the scrolling to the next item in the Reading List when using two-finger gestures. Workarounds:

  1. Open Reading List items in new tabs (right-click → "Open in New Tab").
  2. Use BetterTouchTool to customize gestures.
  3. Export Reading List to apps like Pocket.
  4. Submit feedback to Apple via Safari Feedback.
