Tracking the iPhone’s bubble of hype

    Not sure if it is a true measure of success

    It is good to see the iPhone get its due, but I think the trends are not always indicative of success. Try this one:"John McCain and Barak Obama" It looks like McCain wins the hype-o-meter easily (like the iPhone) but he obviously lost the election. "Hype" as it is defined by Google trends is not always a measure of success.

    You made a good point but I was thinking, and most people refer to Barak Obama just as Obama. So I did a search of McCain vs. Obama and you get a different result.

    Nevertheless, I would say that Google trends is more of a measure of interest than hype. Hype could be linked to interest, but not necessarily.
