Just got an IP5. MacOS is too old to update its version of iTunes, so I can't connect my iPhone to my iTunes/computer (since IP5 requires one of the newer versions of iTunes). Any way I can still somehow transfer the music files that are in my laptop/iTunes to the iPhone?? (This is not an unlocked iPhone, and don't want to do anything funny to my phone.) Will it work if I just use a friend's macbook/newer version of iTunes??

Unfortunately, you have to use iTunes. So you can use your friends MacBook, but from then on, it will only be able to add music via his MacBook (the iPhone locks itself to the first computer it syncs with).

Unless you don't sync and select "Manually manage music and video" instead. That way you can transfer music with any other library.
