"Defense Secretary Ashton B. Carter on Thursday removed one of the final barriers to military service by lifting the Pentagon’s ban on transgender people serving openly in the armed forces."

That's good, if anybody wants to join up, I say let them. Sure some people will find a reason to think this will be the end of our great military.

I have a couple of friends who are veterans, they maintain that as long as someone can do the job their differences are irrelevant and that most members of the military feel that way.

When I was serving, before gays were allowed in the Military, I knew a few gays in my unit, it was never an issue and they kept it strictly business while on the job. I'm happy to call them my brothers in arms even though my sexual preference is different from theirs. At the end of the day, we're all just people with our own preferences about anything and everything. If God thinks it's a sin and judges them at the gates, who am I to judge them before they get there?

    Seamen to be precise.

Seriously, jokes aside, I don't care what branch of service, if they served their country, they are good people in my book.

Like at the bar when a non-prior service tries to jump in on the bashing.

Dave Chappelle's Jasper skit comes to mind.

It used to be like that when I was enlisted, but now I don't care what branch you were in, if you do well for yourself and you served, you're good in my books, we can split a pitcher or 10.

91W transitioned to 68W while I was in, figured we drank too much W and that's how much we had left.
