Every time I have transmission running, the internet(firefox and safari) gets extremely slow and then just stops loading. Does this happen to anyone else? are there any settings that i need to change in order to have transmission running and use the internet? thanks

I dont know much about that stuff so bare with me. It's at 200 kb/s. What should I have it at in order to run both internet and transmission?

Safari and Firefox is not "The Internet". Safari accesses the World Wide Web which uses the Internet. Transmission also uses the internet.

Whats likely happening is when you run transmission it is uses all your upstream bandwith which will makes web pages load very slowly. What to do is to limit the upload rate setting in transmissions preferences and turn on the "snail" icon to slow it down.
