My iMac is about to go out to pasture so I'm going to remove the new-ish SSD I had put into it and move it to my wife's laptop. I'm thinking of trying a straight-up swap -- i.e. no reformatting and rebuilding, just take out the old, pop in the new, fire up the machine. I figure worst case if the laptop rejects it or seems to run sub-optimally because it was built for a different model or architecture, I'll do a fresh build at that point, then maybe use Migration Assistant to copy back docs, pics, vids, etc. Question I have is if anyone's aware of any harmful effects to the hardware from trying something like this? Thanks in advance.
