Lets say you are coming back into the country and they look at your passport or find out some other way you went to one of the countries on the ban list, what happens? Assuming you weren't doing anything else illegal what is the punishment, clearly it is a federal crime but is it a slap on the wrist or is it 50 years in jail?

If you're talking about the ban on travel to North Korea then I'd guess it would be similar to what was done about travel to Cuba. A slap on the wrist at the most since the government wouldn't want to have to argue in court that they can restrict the freedom of movement for citizens.

The NK ban makes no sense. They could have done it after that college kid came back and died in hospital. They could have done it long before then after Rodman made statements about visiting. Though, that's his method of trying to remain relevant. I could do without the memories of 90s Rodman.

The NK travel ban on Americans make no sense. I say any American that wants to travel there has the go ahead with the stipulation that we will not assist when you get your ass in a bind.

We don’t need to stipulate that. Can’t offer much assistance anyways, have no mission there or embassy, or even talking directly.

By including NK he has by all accounts removed the possibility that people or the courts can accuse him of singling out Muslims.

I was talking about ban on U.S. citizens traveling to these countries not the ban on people coming to the U.S.
