You can still easily sell it, take a bit of a loss and get the 16" one. Simple as that

I did consider it. But rumors are rumors and I didn't want to return it only for the 16" to not materialize.
We'll see how much it costs, I wouldn't have wanted to spend a lot more just for that 1".
How is that getting more clear? It will have up to a 8-core CPU. Are you saying it won't have a GPU?
I hope they have heavily modified the scissor switch keyboard and won't return to the 2015 wibbly-wobbly piece of cr&% of a keyboard. The butterfly is the best keyboard when it comes it typing, still disappointed they never released an external version. Would have replaced all my mechanical keyboards with it. Touchbar is a must, saves so much time. Problem is, there's no external version. 4x USB-C is fine. Hope it won't be bigger/thicker. All they really have to do is improve the screen/bezels and modify the cooling a little. But I'm afraid they have done more (and screwed it up).
As for price, 6 or 8 core machine, 32GB, 1TB drive and decent GPU for $4k to $4.5k is totally fine.
The term "Pro" is overrated. What is a pro? I've just ordered a $125k Dell box (20c/40t Xeon, 384GB RAM, 4x Nvidia V100 SMX2 with 32GB each) to do some basic computation, for more I use cloud services, because it's too expensive to buy. A laptop will never have enough processing power for heavy workloads, so one could argue if any mobile device can be pro. Then again, a person answering emails all day long can be a pro.
Butterfly has no key travel. Hardly the “best keyboard when it comes it [sic] typing,” even when it works.
It’s actually more like a half inch. The 15” MBP has a 15.4” display.
I wouldn’t sweat it at all, the 16” won’t perform any better. I’ve got a 2018 MBP 15” and I love it. I think the keyboard feel is fine.
At home, one USB-C plug is my eGPU + 4K display + power. The other USB-C plug is for my keyboard, mouse, SD Card reader, and external storage.
I think the only reason to switch would be if you strongly prefer the feel of the 16” keyboard, if you’re mainly using your MBP as a laptop.

This feels so weird, a healthy release cycle on Macs again. It feels just like yesterday they first put out the Touch Bar models, that conditioned I’ve become after Apple dropped the ball on updates for a few years.

That's not true, the butterfly has minimal travel, which makes it so good to type on. See, I had a typo in the previous message and guess what... I'm typing this on a mechanical keyboard because Apple still has not released an external butterfly keyboard. I've used mechanical keyboards for over 30 years and used to love them as the best. The amount of travel on the keys makes them a real pain once used to the butterfly. I'm typing much faster on butterfly, but I'm also making more typos on mechanical keyboards now since I'm so used to butterfly. Again, if I could, I would happily replace all my keyboards with butterflys. When I'm sitting on my desk, I usually have the MBP closed, attached to a TB3 dock which is attached to displays. No way to use the butterfly keyboard that way.
Thats true, if we forget about it. Which is the main reason to NOT forget about it.
To everyone who's upset about having just bought a 15": it doesn't suddenly mean yours is useless. Also, as you're a clearly a member on a Mac rumours website, it might be worth looking into these things before making a big purchase. The rumours of the 16" coming this year have been floating around for many months now.
Don't worry about having something that'll soon not be the latest or the biggest and best. It really doesn't matter. Just enjoy what you have. I see too many people worrying about how their new purchases will soon be outdated. You know, this will always be the case so I recommend trying to enjoy what you have and stop wanting (what, in this case, doesn't even exist yet).

This! What I don't get is people complaining about not having enough power with the just-bought older version. When your workflow really depends so much on performance, buy a workstation, server or rent something in the cloud. Much faster than a laptop. And a "pro" that depends so much on more mobile power, doesn't have a problem buying a new laptop every 6 month, because these machines make you money and pay for themselves.

I used to fanboy so hard over new Apple product leaks.
Yet somehow I am now filled with dread that they will give us a good keyboard, bigger display, but foist a new proprietary connector on us, or eliminate the headphone jack.
Heck, who wants to place bets it eschews all jacks except power and debuts wireless thunderbolt.
Or this will be the Arm processor laptop.

Right on. Apple will hobble this thing... in a least a few ways. It will not be the Savior MBP folks have worked themselves up for. There will be disappointment.
who said its 16.0" ? its called like this, like we all call 13" and 15" mbp...but the real diagonal will be around 16.4" because of that rumoured resolution and macOS catalina scaling
My 2009 Macpro died last week, was going to replace it anyway because it will not run Catalina. Was going to get a New Mac Pro tower, the $7000 dollar model but I changed my mind. I was keeping my Machines 10 years and upgrading, but decided to go with a $3500 new MacBook Pro the 16in model and replace it every 5 years and I can take it to work and to and yes, still exiting Mac User Group KMUG. Also I can get a external eGPU case and keep it at home and hook up to my LG 43in Computer Display for a larger and faster monitor.

What if this isn't a MacBook Pro but a product more like the original MacBook Air? The Air was a premium laptop but wasn't it lower powered than the contemporary MacBook Pros?
Any ergonomics expert will tell you that reduced key travel is a good way to cause repetitive stress injuries.
