I have a 5th generation video iPod that I bought about 14 months ago and had been working great until last week when I accidentaly dropped it. When I turn on the iPod it tells me to connect to iTunes to restore. Once I try the restore through iTunes on my MacBook Pro, iTunes does recognize the iPod although it won't recognize how much capacity, software version or serial number. When I click the Restore button I get the following message:

"There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "iPod". The requested source was not found"

I also tried going through the Disk Utility which does recognize my iPod as "Apple iPod Media" but I can't click any of the repair or restore buttons.

Is this a lost cause?

Any help will be greatly appreciated!
