President Obama is expected to name Caroline Kennedy, daughter of former President John F. Kennedy, ambassador to Japan. The job has been critical to U.S. trade and business interests with the world's third largest economy. But Kennedy has no prior experience in government or business.

But Trump was the one with plans to drain the swamp, not pump it into the WH. If I remember correctly the Right had an issue with Obama doing that too.

It seems this would make the 4th person picked from Mar-a-Lago to have their name thrown in. Got to love pay to play.

That would imply that Democrats agree that Obama was part of the swamp. Was he?

So why is there a problem when Trump does it, but somehow ok with Dems when Obama did basically the same thing? By saying Trump is filling Gov with swamp creatures you're also admitting Obama did the same thing.o_O

    That's why it's a problem.

All this proves at best is both administrations are swamp creatures. You can't have it both ways.

You guys put Trump in the WH because he said he was going to change all that. Trump wasn't a politician, he was going to do things different. Drain the swamp he said, hire the best people he said.

Trump: "I'll chose the best and brightest people for my administration"
Hires handbag designer with no diplomatic experience to become an ambassador for the USA .....

So... if you don't condemn Obama for doing it, but condemn Trump for doing the same thing, then how exactly is he filling the swamp when Obama did the same thing?

You're deflecting away from the fact that Trump is POTUS not Obama and that it was Trump who said he was going to change it. You're trying to make this a game of tit for tat and that's how we end up in this cycle of nothing changing. So when you vote in the person who claims to be the one to change the system, don't be the hypocrite to whine that the other side did it too so that makes it ok.

Then you admit both administrations are part of the swamp? If Obama did the same thing and Democrats had no problem with it, then what's the problem and how exactly is he filling the swamp when Obama did the same thing?

I'm not the one who created the thread to whine about it.

Yes Obama is guilty of playing the same game of giving appointments to those who prop wasn't deserving of it but again you're deflecting from the current situation that this is about Trump not Obama. Typical, when you don't like a story about Trump, deflect back to someone else, generally Obama or Clinton. As per your last question see my edit.

It's not deflecting. It's pointing out the hypocrisy and shady journalism of the left. Thinkprogress is a left leaning advocacy group. It's no surprise they coincidentally omitted the fact that Obama has done the same. It's yellow journalism at best.

I think historically ambassadorships have been handed out to supporters with little regard for their qualifications. I wouldn't expect Swamp Master Trump to improve the process, especially knowing the unqualified people he has appointed to his cabinet.

You are still intentionally avoiding the basic premise. 45 campaigned on draining the swamp of the administration of that time. Then candidly reveals to those who support him that basically he was full of it, and just saying anything for approval. Following that up by numerous issues conflict of interests, and instead increasing the swamp steadily.

But you go with... "...But, but Obama".

    http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-na-pol-swamp-20180209-story.html

So the logic is because Obama did it, 45 doing it isn't so bad. But Obama doing it was awful. o_O

Yeah, they don't have the dedication to the truth and high standards of such outfits as Fox News and Breitbart.

No, the logic is if Obama did it and the Democrats where fine with it, then Trump should be able to do the same, without criticism, unless they also lay equal blame to Obama.

Can we settle this feud by saying that when Obama did it the Democrats were fine with it and when Trump does it the Republicans are fine with it?

I'm thinking since it's been discussed for years about how ambassadorships are passed out, it's been an issue with dems and repubs. Your desperately trying to make the conflation that if 45, then Obama did it too, so all good. All the while trumpeting elsewhere that 45 is different than Obama. Another promise broken.

That argument only holds if Democrats admit Obama was part of the swamp. Was Obama part of the swamp?

Again another deflection from the actual point. It's not about journalism or what past Presidents have done but what is going on now. Are you saying you don't have an issue with Trump doing it now or didn't have an issue with Obama doing the same thing? What exactly is your position regarding the actual issue? Since you have yet to actually address the specific issue.

No. You want to make it that if Obama did something, than it's alright for 45 to do it as well, even if he claimed he wouldn't. That's an argument your fashioning to specifically support a point you've deflected to. This wasn't about past administrations being swamps, because you haven't chosen to highlight any others, just Obama. It's about ONE particular president making a promise to NOT repeat the actions of previous presidents, then turning around doing the very same thing, if not in greater numbers.
