Oh he can. But it's sad when he retweets a poll that he likes. Especially a twitter poll. Because of all the polling mechanisms... Twitter is going to be the most accurate

Maybe they figured out how to make them more accurate since a lot of polls had Hilary winning the election.

Funny. But I can't imagine you have a shred of belief that a twitter poll compares with polls done by other agencies.

If that's true - then why give Trump a pass for calling the others fake and lies?

    1. Opinion polls reflect opinion, not actual voters who go out and vote
    2. Polls had Trump and Clinton within a 5 point margin of each other the month going into the election.

Makes you wonder why some are real and some are "fake", doesn't it? ;)

not at all. it's a clear and controlled effort to control news and discredit the 4th estate. He wants to have complete and utter dominance over the message to Americans.

:D Trump, lol... and his retweet only scores 6.8k likes? Vicente Fox, former prez of Mexico got 99k likes for suggesting that Trump was running a low-rated reality TV show in the White House, and for noting "Sad!" that he couldn't seem to change the channel. Well maybe Trump fans are having trouble getting out of bed with their usual enthusiasm to rush into the bot-tweet-like-a-lot Trump fan rooms these days, all things considered.

Stalin, Hitler, Kim, Bo Pot, never achieved complete and utter dominance over the message. The Donald needs to learn a lot more to come close to to these dictators. Well maybe Jong-Un lately.

Every little attempt to co-opt free press does count.

(like his tv “news” “channel” -- that wretched piece of beach litter)

Trump does want to become the One Sole Source, all others fake and fail. He’s not going to make it but that doesn’t mean his efforts should get a free pass.

He’s already expressed interest in tweaking free speech protections. His lawyers reminded him if he went for tougher libel laws, plenty of documented instances of his own speech would hand him huge personal losses in court. That has shut him up on at least that one topic ever since.

Unfortunately that series of little events early in his presidency apparently rang some big bell in his head. Free speech! Wow! Yeah! So he’s out there all the while now encouraging the worst nature of his core voters, skating in the margins of protected speech, tweeting trash and throwing them Stephen Miller’s red meet at political rallies.

If he wanted to become a serious dictator he should be taking a page from Assad, the father, not that spoiled London-raised son in there now. Assad père took the trouble to memorize the dossiers of every single Alewite compatriot in his military, so when he called one of them up in the middle of a graveyard shift some night he could chat them up about their wives and kids, by name, and pass along birthday greetings. And so command their tribal loyalty. That guy had his army set up so it took an Alewite to get anything to happen. You could be a captain and not be able to move a truck unless you had permission of the senior Alewite in the unit, even if that guy was just a foot soldier. The new guy in Syria, so enamored of his high status and Iranian/Russian pals, we see where that has gone now. Probably Iran is who says when it's ok to move a tank.

And Trump? Well, he has “his” generals... or maybe they have him.

And Trump, does he even know what’s going on his his government? New twist and turn in the NLRB case, for instance. The DoJ had informed NLRB that with the change from Obana to Trump, the agency should now take management’s side in case of Murphy Oil v employees over an arbitration rights issue. But yesterday the NLRB filed a brief on behalf of the employees, arguing that a precedent case filed by management was incorrect. The general counsel of the NLRB has decided to argue the case personally now, on October 2 oral arguments. His term ends October 31 lol so he’s apparently decided to go out in a blaze of glory, taking on Murphy Oil and the US Department of Justice both.

So Trump’s out there busy trying to delegitimize the free press, and meanwhile his government is in chaos watching him tweet random stuff into the night about blowing Korea into the history books. Nobody’s watching the chicken roosts. The foxes are starting to pick off some snacks. The press reports all this stuff but they’re smart enough not to put it on Page One. Nope. Dear Leader gets page one commentary on his tweets the same as usual. It’s not a Fake Page One like his own TV endeavor, but it’s a feint nonetheless. Clippings for The Don, with photos (lol for better or worse) that will fetch notice by his staff.

Fans of free press, “we ain’t dead yet” but only because we’re still paying attention to stuff like fake polls.

National polls had HRC up by about 2% in the popular vote. HRC ended up winning the popular vote by a little more than 2%. That's not bad. The failure was in local polling.

I love Puffins. I loved walking with a crew from work up into that part of the Park on a long summer lunch hour... nailing something to eat off a Sixth Ave food wagon meanwhile. It's a hike so we sometimes had to cab it back down to midtown not to draw undue notice  back at the job.

On actual polls as opposed to Twitter polls:
