and we keep thinking it can't get any crazier. How much you want to bet this does not bring up any of the republican voter suppression?

Headed by Kris Kobach, the architect of the voter suppression program known as "Interstate Crosscheck" which systematically kicked hundreds of thousands (potentially millions) into a grey zone where they weren't actually removed from the rolls, but instead given provisional ballots that simply don't get counted (despite assurances that they do...but only in a recount).

Investigative reporter Greg Palast was accidentally given the list which had millions of names on it. If a person in one state had the same name as another in a different state, both were cast into the grey zone. Legally the program was supposed to check middle names and SS numbers, but they weren't doing that.

Nobody covered this, despite Palast literally having the spreadsheets showing the process in action. THIS PROGRAM IS HOW THE GOP HAS BEEN STEALING ELECTIONS. The forerunner of this program was instituted in Florida (by Jeb Bush), before George W. Bush was "elected".

This commission will result in the Crosscheck program becoming "legitimized" on the grounds of preventing voter fraud, it's a canard.

I assume the panel is stacked, but why wouldn't the two Democrats include that in the report? Even if they are suppressed somehow, they can write their own findings in a "minority opinion" separately.

They'd rather focus on the Russia narrative than unmask a suppression technique their party has used (at the state level) in the past. The GOP isn't the only ones doing it, they're the only ones doing effectively.

Something something "can't lose faith in the democratic process" something something.....

Ideal outcome: they admit that the GOP has a systemic practice of shutting down polling places, limiting absentee voting, and tricking people into not voting (threats of arrest) or voting on the wrong day. Chance of this happening: 0.

Null outcome: they conclude what we already know, that there's a handful of isolated cases of intentional fraud and too many dead people who haven't been struck from the voter rolls. Chance of this happening: 5%.

Probably outcome: they'll find some nefarious way to keep even more people from voting. Hell, Jeff Sessions is already working on filling up our prisons. Chance of this happening: 95%.

I wonder, was the water supply ever fixed in Flint Michigan? You'd think that things like that would be a priority, no commission to smooth the wrinkles in somebody's vanity. Trump won the EC, Clinton won the popular vote. Move on.
