Forget about climate change. This is just a lie or ignorance. Trump supporters, what do you think about this?

"in a new interview again pushed back on claims of global warming, stating that polar ice caps have hit "a record level," according to reports.

"The ice caps were going to melt, they were going to be gone by now, but now they’re setting records. They’re at a record level," Trump told British television host Piers Morgan in an interview set to air Sunday night on ITV News."

So sad. He's so ignorant of the issues and his followers celebrate it.

    Don't forget that:
    • He also found Obama's real birth certificate
    • Had evidence Obama wiretapped him
    • His firing of Mueller is fake news
    • he didn't sexually harass 16 women
    • He denied that he said "grab them by the *****" despite there being audio evidence and eye witnesses
Not sure which is lower, is approval rating or the percentage of truthful statements he makes.

Trump interviewed by the almost equally vile Piers Morgan.

What's so scary is that his supporters will hear this and then repeat it ad-nauseum, insisting it's the absolute god's honest and undeniable truth, because the very concept of having even a merest glimmer of a thought that their beloved President could be lying to them is total anathema in their eyes.

In a world with access to so much information at the touch of a button or sweep of the finger, it blows my mind just how totally and utterly ignorant so many people can be.

The problem is that Antarctic ice in the last several years has seen record highs in 2015....but only those with a willful ignorance of the changes in the climate would try to conflate those. https://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/antarctic-sea-ice-reaches-new-record-maximum

Editors note: "Antarctica and the Arctic are two very different environments: the former is a continent surrounded by ocean, the latter is ocean enclosed by land. As a result, sea ice behaves very differently in the two regions. While the Antarctic sea ice yearly wintertime maximum extent hit record highs from 2012 to 2014 before returning to average levels in 2015, both the Arctic wintertime maximum and its summer minimum extent have been in a sharp decline for the past decades. Studies show that globally, the decreases in Arctic sea ice far exceed the increases in Antarctic sea ice"

Meanwhile, at NASA in 2017: https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/sea-ice-extent-sinks-to-record-lows-at-both-poles

Pretty close at least. Trump needs to come up to the Arctic and see the melting for himself. He should talk to the people who rely on the sea ice to hunt for their food. I doubt it would change his mind, but then he at least might not be quite as ignorant.

The Liar in Chief lied, it must be a day that ends in 'y.'

Trump doesn't talk to the hoi polloi. And, Trump would probably return from such a mission—after a quick briefing with a clutch of oil and gas executives—that such people are thrilled it's getting warmer, and are excited for the development of a Trump golf resort in the next few years.

Don't underestimate the depths of this man's mendacity.

It’s like watching someone give a book report on something they never read. “But above all, the main moral of the story is that grapes came from wrath.”

    So, you're saying that Trump's correct? :p

And yes, I'm joking of course. It never ceases to amaze me the sheer number of people who ignore cold hard facts, even when presented in a nice simple to grasp graph.

If you want to define truth to suit the inanities of Trump, yeah, sure, anything's possible. Personally, I like my truths to be precise, accurate, and useful.

And meet your world views. We’ll ignore any facts that contradict those views.

Again, we have not one, but two polar ice caps. The only one in the article you linked only conveniently discussed the Arctic, which is in decline, and left out the Antarctic which is setting maximum records. Of course if that was included, then the facts would be precise and accurate.

Trump is just doing his usual routine of placating his hard core supporters after he says something that they won't approve of (if and when they hear about it).

They've doubtless recently heard that Trump said he might seek to re-enter the Paris Climate Accord but assuredly "to get a better deal". He's trying to walk a line towards the midterms and court a few Dems to make up for some Republican drift, but without alienating his core group in the meantime.

probably more useful if one could see the graph from september, but, alas the image isn't that amenable to url manipulation.
