No doubt he feels bad. This soldier died on a mission Trump approved. It was a solid move on Trump's part.

Hopefully it will work as another reminder of the lives in his hands.

Why is Priebus smiling, everyone else looks grave?

Anyway, kudos to Trump for attending. Hope he remembers this in the future.

Precisely. It goes to show that even with the best intelligence assets we have on the ground, things still do happen. Insert your favorite pejorative there.

On another note, someone really ought to send a competent tailor to the White House.

Every POTUS does. I think people are surprised because it's a very un-Trump like maneuver. I think some people who are so hateful of the man believe he would have tweeted it out. Here I see a man who is sad to realize he sent a man to his death based on intelligence they got they were told was faultless. It happens.

They also seemed to have real human souls.

I'm glad Trump did this, of course it is his job and if he didn't there would be a problem.

So it's no secret that I absolutely cannot stand Trump and think he is entirely inappropriate for the position of President. However, today I am actually going to pay him a compliment. I think this was definitely the right thing to do and I am very glad he made the trip.

Finally something decent and dare I say normal, for someone in that position to be doing.

I'll say the same thing as usual. The best respect sign of respect anyone can deliver to the troops is foreign policy which avoids unnecessary deaths. It goes much further than any gesture in stating that their lives are important.

Maybe we can put the stories of officials briefing against Trump in its own thread?

Do you realize that he left the White House abruptly and that the press inquired (and speculated) for a while before a simple statement was released, right?
No bells and whistles, no cameras.

I loathe Trump, but he's done the right thing. Maybe there's hope for the man.
