Trump thinks exercise is bad for you, depletes limited energy

    Excerpt from Trump's biographer:

“After college, after Trump mostly gave up his personal athletic interests, he came to view time spent playing sports as time wasted. Trump believed the human body was like a battery, with a finite amount of energy, which exercise only depleted. So he didn’t work out. When he learned that John O’Donnell, one of his top casino executives, was training for an Ironman triathlon, he admonished him, ‘You are going to die young because of this.’”

Opinion (mine): The level of stupid that just keeps coming out of this POTUS is just unbelievable. It's like he's trying hard, trying really hard to make himself appear more medieval backasswards and anti-modern than those Islamic fundamentalists that still govern their societies like it's the 6th century.

In his defense the inventor of jogging died at 45 due to heart failure!

(Of course I don't defend that idiotic position, if true)

Sure, it's well known in science that vigorous exercise can even trigger heart attacks. I've worked in hospitals, and I know that to be true as we've seen such patients who have collapsed or even suffered minor MIs after doing a marathon or local 10k. The common wisdom is that if you have a weak heart, then take it easy with the exercise.

But for Trump to write off all exercise as "bad for your body" (because of his battery theory above)….. well, it illustrates some of his backwards and unscientific beliefs.

Not a defense, unless you are being funny! :) Lol, Jim Fixx had heart disease and he had been warned by his doctor. Think more along the lines, other than disease, of the human body as a machine that wears out if it's not used. Not exactly right, but close. People who exercise are healthier than sedentary people. :)

Not only is this guy rediculous in his own right, his computer is also still running Windows XP.

    Smart enough or ignorant enough?

The notion that if he exercised, it would somehow use up his "battery" is laughable. That being said, with his lifestyle I'd say his battery is working overtime.

If trump's battery theory is right, the oldest humans should be people in comas.

It's been my experience that wealthy people manage to sustain some of the dopiest ideas about health.

Between Gwyneth Paltrow's attempts to convince women that sticking a jade "egg" in their vaginas will help their health and Trump's silly idea 19th-century ideas about exercise, it's clear that money does not make people smart.

Celebrating that a corrupt idiot businessman who may be spilling secrets to the Russians isn't exactly something to cheer about. But enjoy your bubble while you can, because one of these days it's going to pop. Then what will you do?

Dude just got caught (allegedly) giving intel to the Russians that he probably shouldn't have and this is the thread you come up with??? Seems like the human battery theory thread could have waited for a slow news day.

Is there such a thing anymore? I'm not sure that there is. Slow news day is DEAD! Maybe Christmas Day. But then no one would be here reading it either. :D

Trump posted less than 10 inflammatory Tweets today. That counts as a "slow news day".

Most people think he got elected because enough voters in enough states were sick of the status quo and also distrusted Clinton. Whether they were smart or not is so far still an open question.

Regardless of who is smart or not smart….. it's also a fact that when people are ANGRY (i.e. Trump voters) the anger emotion clouds one's ability to make sound and balanced decisions.

Then again, that's exactly what Candidate Trump was counting on. He was counting on gathering TONS of votes from emotional people who were angry, disgruntled, feeling desperate, totally ticked off at establishment politics.

I still hold out hope (sometimes) for my theory that in desperation to achieve an impressive legacy, Trump will cross the aisle and do some business with the Democrats.

But, I admit that with each passing day now, it seems less likely Trump will last that long in the office..

As far as voters' emotions, the ones I know around here who voted for Trump are variously angry and depressed now. This is a blue state so it's not like "their fault" he won, but he's not delivering what they expected, or as one friend put it, she didn't think "shaking up the establshment" was going to be "like this". I try to talk about the weather or the sales in supermarket flyer.

It IS bad for you. You ever been exercised? When the demons come out, it really wears on the body. Muscle spasms and a lot of cramping, after.
